Letter copy: HOUSING
Fifty thousand second homes in one County District. How many in the whole county and country?
If the figures are correct and indeed they are not rented out to tenants as their first homes.
Is this something our country can afford.
An English population of ten million might have all the second homes people desire.
But with Fifty Five million people, in fifty thousand square miles, the calculation is obvious.
I believe in altruist democracy not a capitalist free for all.
Indeed housing according to local need, and not a global market.
And, by the way, a vigorous policy of direct aid overseas where there are homeless families.
