It seems that the opportunity for the wealthy to eradicate genetically inherited problems in their progeny is upon us. Is this a good thing, or is it likely to create new insidious divisions?
In time the costs of these interventions will drop so that everyone can benefit, but in that transition period a new means of discrimination will arise.

In Germany, prospective employers could demand DNA samples and use them for deciding whether or not to employ a candidate, until recently. Now, "only" insurance companies may do this.

GATTACA beckons.

Precisely what I was thinking. It is difficult for me to discern how I feel about this.

I am expecting the next big shift will be modification after selection. Then how long before it is acceptable to make people and other creatures to an order? I am sure that the opportunity will appear within my lifetime. Strange new creatures will be created.
