If you haven't seen the movie. Don't look at the plot, don't judge the film with the first 5 minutes. Don't read this thread...(really, it's full of spoilers and stupid things)

From Wikipedia:
Cube is a 1997 Canadian science fiction horror film directed and co-written by Vincenzo Natali.
The film was a product of the Canadian Film Centre's First Feature Project.
The film follows a group of people led by Quentin, a policeman, as they cross industrialized cube-shaped rooms, with some rigged with various traps designed to kill.
Cube gained notoriety for its surreal atmosphere and Kafkaesque setting, with the industrial, cube-shaped room design and concept. Since its release, the film received polarizing, yet favorable reviews, out of a mix of middling or negative reviews, and has since gained a cult following.
The film spawned a film series, and a remake is currently in development at Lionsgate.
Your topic seems interesting enough.
Perhaps if you would have referred to the film, in passing, as part of a philosophical thesis that you stated clearly you would have garnered a response?
Adding an image or GIF to sex-up the thread may have helped you begin a conversation.
Embedding a link instead of laying-out the link itself is also visually more appealing.
BTW - What conclusions did you draw from the film?
Why do you think the film was made?

I dont want to generate conversation. I liked the film and I thought more people would like it.
I said dont look at the plot.... and you put the plot.
Why? Because dont looking at the plot makes you feel more involved in the mistery, now people know what happens. Thanks for the spoiler!
Why do people make movies? Start other of your drunk threads for that question.

Haven't watched it in a long time, but I love that film.
I liked the sequels, too. (Well, sequel and a prequel.)

I haven't seen the sequels, the best part of the film was Worth talking about why are they there. I've heard about the rest, and they are... as a start, out of reality. This can happen, at least phisically.Terrapin Station wrote:Haven't watched it in a long time, but I love that film.

You revealed the plot.Bill Wiltrack wrote:.

First scene, a guy in a room. You ask yourself. Where is that guy? Oh, I know it. The guy runs into a trap, and he dies. "Oh, there are traps! and people can die!... well, I kew it", next scene, a guy encounters other guy in the floor. Who is that guy? Is he dead? Oh, I know it, somebody has post a photo of that guy alive... Oh, that guy is called quentin, so I know that he is going to be their leader...
You can enjoy more the film if you ask you some questions and you see that in the story the characters are asking themselves the same questions.

Re: cube in youtube
Re Bill, I consider all plot info to be a spoiler, really.
I prefer watching films knowing as little about them as possible. I just want to know the minimum to gauge whether I'd be interested in something. Often some combo of simply knowing any cast members and/or the director and/or the genre and/or the budget and/or maybe a brief sentence or phrase of description is all I need.
For example, for Cube, all I'd need to know is that it's "SciFi/(psychological) horror. A small group of people realize that they're stuck in a mysterious, sparsely surreal, oddly mechanical environment with no memory how they got there."

It's actually far more similar to The Maze Runner.Pluto wrote:It sounds like SAW. Which came first?
There are some superficial similarities to parts of Saw, though.
Cube came out a number of years prior to both, but the basic idea goes far back in SciFi/fantasy/horror literature. It's basically the trapped on a desert island trope, where that serves as a highly abstracted allegory for life in general.

If many people don't answer to you, is because you are only noise, in every thread, in the forum. When they answer to one of your posts or threads, they are not answering to you, people are just talking to themselves, or... to everybody, they are saying what they feel they have to say, but they don't give a fuck about your thoughts, and everybody here thinks that they are crap.Bill Wiltrack wrote:.
