Murals

Post by artisticsolution »

I so miss philosophy now! I have been incredibly bust these past few weeks. Feast or famine is the life of an artist! I have not refused anything that has come my way...even when I am doing more than 3 jobs at a time. I never know when the famine is going to rear it's ugly head so I have been taking advantage of the feast! I barely have time to sleep!

Anyway, I am very excited to announce that I got invited to paint a mural on the Strip! It's at the Linq Hotel and Casino and this area outdoors has a beautiful common area of quaint little restaurants, bars and shops leading from Las Vegas Blvd (the strip) to the High Roller (A huge ferris wheel that takes 30 mins to complete the ride..I went on it last week when I was doing a live painting demo/silent auction with 15 other invited artists...I will try to post some pics...it was so cool!)

Anyway, I went to check out the spot they gave me and I was so please! It is the first mural closest to the strip! I am literally 60 ft away from Las Vegas Blvd! How cool is that!?

The only request they had is that it have some sort of entertainment theme since it is right next to the box office. I decided to do my fav theme of course...with a twist....Vegas Wonderland.

The last venue with showgirls recently closed, so the iconic showgirl is no more. She is dead...like elvis and the rat pack. So, I will commemorate her in my mural somewhere..Maybe White rabbit as elvis...I dunno yet...we will see what transpires...I'll send pics when I can. I hope I have good weather! This week has been sunny and in the 80's! Beautiful...next week is supposed to rain...lol...of course!

Anyway, here is the place to post murals that inspire you.

Thanks, Pluto. It was alot of fun but also alot of work because I only had 3 days. I met a lot of cool people. One guy was walking by with his wife. I had just finished the white rabbit and had him posed with his hand in the air (his left hand was not there yet). I left it undone deliberately because I had not figured out what I wanted to make him doing. I was thinking of holding balloons shaped like dice, or a royal flush and told the couple. I asked them for suggestions. The man said," I think it would be funny to have him pulling a human out of a hat..." I loved the idea and I decided to have it be Alice being pull out of the mad hatter's Hat. Ha!

When I got home I posted it on Facebook and thanked the 'passer-by' for coming up with the suggestion. He and his wife saw the post and now we are friends on Facebook and Instagram! And I found out he is a great artist! I am going to ask him to hang one of his pieces in my gallery soon...as soon as I get over the flu... :(

Thanks to all for the very nice compliments. It's 7'x10', Arising. :)

Next week I was invited to do the Life Cube Project...sort of a 'Burning Man" thing...I got a 10'x6' spot in a pretty visible space. Still have the crud...so hopefully I will be well enough Monday...we shall see... :D
