Your work has made me re-examine my own view of what can be art and that hurts.

Really? That would be amazing. It suddenly hit me that the spirit of a person, the soul, is it the same, was very important, of course we have the spirit of an age, what is the spirit of our age like, mean, tired and drunk perhaps, waiting for a bus in the rain. But anyway here is what I drew;

You expect to see the dog's tail start wagging. Lovely. What is the process involved in these sculptures? I'm a sculpting illiterate, apart from a dabble as a child where I devised a way of rigging up wire frames first and then putting the clay around them.

[quote="Hobbes' Choice"]Latest effort.
The dog is pure raw clay, built on a metal frame.
I'm currently making a mould over the dog, and will finish it in Bronze Resin.

The "Le Fils de l'Homme" is also made of clay, fired and then painted in acrylic.

I mean, turning and idea in your imagination into an actual object. It looks like a real dog. The proportions are all exact. Is it an instinctive thing, or is there a lot of maths involved?

There is a lot of careful observation and some measuring with calipers - when I can get my dog to sit still!
She has been a real star, and the other people that visit the studio all love her. It's been a great time.

I also use photos of here in that pose. It is painstaking and time consuming, but worth the hard work and effort.

This sort of work simply cannot be achieved without reference to nature. All the great sculptors used models.
