God and Virtue

Post by RWStanding »

God and Virtue
Does virtue reside in the will of ‘God’.
Or in what we perceive ‘God’ wills.
There is a fundamental divide in religion between those who perceive obedience to be the sum of virtue.
And those who perceive ethical values as their guide.
If we obey ‘God’ with the belief that ‘God’ is ‘good’ then we are either making values prior to god or as god.
The difference between the two is all too manifest in the world today.
And simply saying ‘god is love’ is tantamount to moral relativism.
Set against god as supreme will.
Set against responsible altruism.
Homo sapien does have some connection with wisdom.
