Swedish Prisons and Decapitation Fetish

Okay, this guy is the first I've heard of, okay no, the second person I've heard of who had a decapitation fetish, Yukio Mishima would be the first. Please don't inform me how widely practiced this fetish is, I simply don't want to know. I like to think it is incredibly rare.

Sweden has a legal system akin to the one from the movie "Demolition Man". I don't know where he will be prosecuted, but pretty sure neither Denmark or Sweden is up to the task, but especially Sweden, when it comes to incarceration.

Don't they like, allow you to ride horses and have a key to your own jail cell, and some even live in a former palace and can work in Stockholm. This guy like.... orgasms whenever he stabs and dismembers people. Short of a lobotomy, we cannot pull off a rehabilitation of this guy with our current technology. Maybe forceably drug him out for the rest of his life so he can't recall who he is or where he is at, but that wouldn't pass constitutional muster in the US for Cruel and Unusual Punishments, and we straight up kill people here for far, far less than what he is into.

I have no idea how they will deal with this. If tried in Sweden, it is a 12 year max sentence, if my memory recall is correct. That's not bad at all considering the luxuries and sympathy he will receive. He can stroll about the prison or town, killing people during the day, go to court the next day, get more of a sentence, leave, go sleep soundly at night, then rise up in bed the next morning refreshed, head out, kill some more. Make it a regular practice. After a while cut out the police as the middlemen, and just drop the bodies off in the court room, plead guilty and march off to jail, like on the Andy Griffith Show, how the town drunk would lock himself up every weekend.

That's more or less my grasp on the Swedish system. I know Norway modelled themselves off American proposals from the 60s for prison reform, not sure this would do a whole lot to contain a true psychopath who one day realized the system wasn't really stopping him from doing whatever he wanted to do. No real reason to be inhibited from doing whatever you want in a very weak penal system. They only work if the people themselves are relatively weak minded, not prone to outbursts or violence, a lazy unimventive monoculture. Such a society wouldn't commit much crime as they wouldn't be inspired to do much in the first place, but if you start getting people who don't crave what limited fruits and opprotunities society has to offer, wanting something they can't or won't provide, then the system is going down the drain. Nothing seems to be stopping someone truely twisted from doing whatever they please. At least Norway can lock someone up in solitary, but they can't even do that for life. You eventually can get out and do it all over again, if you choose to disregard all the light hearted brainwashing and laugh it all off as being not interested in what is offered as far as changing goes, and will stick to being twisted and evil.

Sweden's murder rate vs US murder rate.....
US age of criminal responsibility: 0-11. So technically you could have babies on death row?? I mean, y'all love to leave loaded guns lying around the house. Ya'll are insane. 'United States of A: The world's biggest lunatic asylum'.
Pssst. Denmark and Sweden are not the same country.

I have learned one thing from driving in many countries in the world - The traffic works in every country. But if you come from one place and end up on another place and watch the traffic it looks like chaos. You should be hesitant to judge the ways of another country. I live in Sweden, and my roots are all here. People in this country of the ignorant type will whine about - how could the americans not vote for Bernie Sanders??? Because USA is not Sweden. And Sweden is not UK or USA. Our legal system has been working really fine, we have had good rates for crimes, killings and so on.

But we do have a problem with refugees and immigrants. The crime rates, especially in terms of shootings and sexual crimes are not developing in a satisfactory manner. The suburbs are getting troublesome.

But - we have like never, although a great deal of immigrants during a long time, had any school shootings, mass murderers and the like. I am not at all afraid of going around in central Stockholm any place, any time of day. We have a tradition, since our slow social democrat revolution of taking care of people and that works, both ways. But the immigrant situation is not satisfactory, and globalization produces great unease here, like everywhere else.

But generally, the key to low crime rates is not a function of the penalties for crimes, it's a function of the amount of unemployed lower class people in a society.

Depends on the crime. Not all crime is rooted in economics. In America, we have crimes of passion for example, if you saw shawshank redemption, reason he was locked up was because of seeing his wife locked up.

Now consider this.... while we will both agree the penal system of any society is hard to compare, as a Norwegian prison warden has been quick to point out in interviews in trying to compare statistics between Norway, neighboring countries, and the outside world.... our definition of crimes are not the same, how we track the rate or recidivism, etc.... our priorities as societies are hardly the same either. Stuff that has been systematically undermined in the US, such as forced unions, are essential to the Swedish approach to democracy and economics. In my state, of West Virginia, we had to ban the practice. Swedish socialism is built upon it. Prior to the Islamic migration, I saw the immigration rules for your country, people had to apply to what we would call trade guilds, a concept we abolished centuries ago, to immigrate and join/compete in plying your trade.

Our differences do not stop there. We put strong emphasis on family, producing good children, faithful kids. Kids able to take over traditional jobs, such as the family business in inheritance, or the family farm, enter into a trade. Many wealthier families college. We had that mindset for generations. Large families, expansion, military service was better if volunteer or if drafted. We went through a counter culture period, and are swinging back towards it again. I suspect it will become a pendulum of family values and corporate individualism. Stuff in Sweden you would utterly disregard as having any worth, like respect for religion and valuing people of faith, has great worth here. We need it, it is center to our community politics.... not the sect itself, but the larger capacity of those groups to collect people together, and reach out across sectarian lines, for the needs of a larger community. In America, we can mix modernity and technocratic expertise with traditional concepts, like bedrock constitutional ideals, and family values, make make it all work as the main strength of our national character. It is at the very root of who we are. Politically on the world stage, we are alliance builders.... started early on in the colonies here, ran by different Christian sects, who would join together in larger confederacies for protection. NATO is a byproduct of this. American didn't start the European concept of alliance building, but what it is today, is absolutely the result of American instincts to politics.

A lot of what Sweden does, many here would consider a crime. I don't mean your foreign policy or any specific law. Nations are free to a great extent to do as they care, but it seems your country is fast to destroy it's ethical foundations for unproven stances, that rip it apart in the long term. I tried penetrating Swedish law a while back, found it was inspired in the early twentieth century by a Nietzschean thinker, who wanted it more scientific, on provable, rational, empirical concepts. This sounds great, but as a lover of history, I know states are formed more by external forces than internal. How we stick together is of the crucial concern. That's the cunnondrum of ethics, survival of the individual, or the community.

In Sweden, it has a mythical strong neutrality, which is absolutely fine.... if it is backed up by wise statecraft, and strong deterrents, especially military defensive forces and assets to buy off threats. Sweden can't realistically do this at all. Not at all, whatsoever. It is utterly lacking in manpower to put a Army able to fight off it's main threat, Russia, and secondary threat (as a Neutral country, you must consider it a possibility) Finland and NATO. Seriously, I think even Finland can trounce your nation, and obviously Russia can, and certainly NATO (shout out to Norway).

So the Neutrality aspect is a utter joke. At least your country doesn't run around with it's paper thin Neutrality trash talking nearby dictatorships, like Belarus, or systematically piss off the states most likely to support you in a defensive war, like the US. Sweden is too wise for that. And your not doing anything to break down the family unit, able to make marriage increasingly distasteful, because you know as a country dependent on the draft, having plenty of young men able to fight and die for your country is essential. You certainly didn't let feminist take over your country, riding horses around mocking any signs of historic patriotism as vile, evil abhorrent patriarchial leftovers of earlier twisted eras, cut the cock off your military heraldic lions, keep men immature and unable to make long term relationships with women, having kids then splitting up, causing trauma to the children and distrust in the opposite sex. That would be insane, would certainly making a mass draft impractical with a Army full of fruitcakes needing counseling. Sweden would never do that.

Sweden would also never denigrate the local churches, people who most strongly uphold strong families, resilience, independence and good ethics, and certainly wouldn't abuse and persecute them, forcing them to flee abroad. Naturally because your country doesn't do this, Finland wouldn't maintain a refugee island of good Christians who fled Sweden. Sweden knows it absolutely must have a stable if not positive population growth to maintain both manpower and economic growth.

Sweden would also know to not over restrict the housing market, focus on rapidly expanding it, and it would also know not to invite a bunch of refugees in if it had no room for them in the housing market, especially ones from violent countries who would look upon you are weak and backwards, and plot to undermine you at every turn.

But we don't know this, we know the opposite, Sweden does this, and much, much more. I used to read Swedish news everyday on The Locale, but became disgusted after seeing shootouts, people getting crushed to death by bacon, princes pretending they are genius fashion designers, making fireplaces (couldn't even make a fireplace), princesses marrying American bankers (Bernie Sanders would not approve) and the absurd situation of trying to ban paper money..... once you start going into recession mode, companies are going to switch to a different currency, and likely move their headquarters to a country where that currency is widely trusted. If you maintain absolute control over a currency, black markets will snap your system, your currency will not float as well, and your people will suffer considerably as far as imports are considered. But fuck, Sweden doesn't care.

I'm 40-60 on Sweden joining NATO. It isn't absolutely inept, but I see no evidence of a sudden change for the better. When IKEA flees Sweden, it's only widely known company, it is time to panic that the propaganda that Sweden is the most inventive or innovative is a little off. It currently can pull some troops drafted with it's regular army, but the defensive setup is a joke, well published, and not as well backed up as Norway, and wouldn't last long. Sweden itself says a week at best against a Russian invasion?

As a criminal society, one that thinks it has largely abolished crime, but hasn't since the ethics of the people don't fit the strategic configurations of the area, I am not fond of them. I have much more respect for Sweden. I've road in Swedish vehicles in Alaska, like the older SUS-V, and they break down and catch fire all the time. Death traps. I've seen videos of the larger models the Russians and the British use, more impressed mechanically, far les you idiotically sold your best defensive asset to your main enemy. I'm not too thrilled bringing Sweden on board. I've pulled Finish Ahkios too, and admit, I've never once had a Ahkio burst into flames on me while pulling one. God bless the Finns for that.

The conditions of the Cold War that made Sweden neutral are gone. Nothing has decisively shaken it out, but is only a matter of time. Given that terror groups and future caliphate can point to places like Malmo as part of their territory, or at least a safe harbor, seriously threatens the idea the world won't be pressing in on it eventually to retaliate against them. I don't believe remotely for a moment your society is strong enough to tame them, to culturally intergrate them. US generally can, but we are significantly different ethically as a society. I seriously doubt Swedes can pull this off even within the next few generations.

I don't look at Sweden as a shining light, or a beacon of hope, or any of that. I look at it as the most rapidly diminishing society in Europe. I know Greece can survive, they survived the Ottomans, but I don't see any signs of hope that Swedes are coming to grip with the declining curve it is in, or just how much smaller the world is becoming. There will come tipping points where your society will snap. It is using 4-D printing to improve the economy, but that same printing process will absolutely demolish your socialist state, collapse most jobs, and run a lot of industries that have always been around out. If your economy goes, and your military can't hold it together, and with insurgencies inside and Russia pushing from outside, how long do you think Sweden will survive?

Not everything ethically off is criminal, and not all crimes are ethical. Ideally, they would be the same, some states can pull off the off balance better than others, but there are clear points you don't push past. As a society, I see Sweden as ethically inept, clueless, morally questionable, and without long term hope. It is one of the few countries I can say, I do not like. I don't like seeing a society commit a seemingly assured suicide while smiling. It upsets me.

There is some flexibility in ethics, the need to maintain any given rule comes and goes, as well as mode of government.... but a society needs to keep a wise balance between the internal and external forces, and never let the internal forces weaken them at the expense of external pressure. You thought your isolation allows anything to go, but are finding each day it doesn't.

This case of the OP points that out a bit. I went more in depth. I hope to visit Finland someday, and Norway, but absolutely plan to skip Sweden. I think so little of it. I don't want to witness a dying place.

You can be of any religion, but the religion needs to have a strong faith, strong sense of civic duty, and with a emphasis on family values, you need that manpower reserve, you need strong healthy kids, strong healthy citizens. Betraying Christians, without a replacement was a very stupid idea. Atheism isn't keeping your population afloat, or people sober minded. You are a silly, silly people, easily pushed around and mocked even by your Nordic neighbors who know you can't stand up against strong opinions. I'm friends with many, I'm on international pen pal sites, Norway and Finland (dare I say Russia) mock your country, as a joke. So I'm going to be looking at the whole penal system in Sweden suspiciously. In order to fix your society, your males would have to become more assertive. Relationships more stable, this will require shifting power away from women, and making it more equal instead, and that will trigger desires in women from men for more support. Demands, angry demands immediately for more housing. Since kids would be better raised, more cherished, more robust schooling, meaning conflicting ideas.... meaning a wider array of political parties, as well as new kinds of businesses popping up, businesses that can be taxed to fund the army that your young strapping male draftees with drinking problems would field. The pressure and inequality would cause a crime boom, and the prison cuddling you do would likely end as it would be absurdly expensive to pull off, given all the crimes resulting for more desires for more, which underlines your rapid economic expansion, your employment, etc.

Independence, the survival of a society comes at a cost. It isn't coincidental the countries that are the most independent, strongest militarily, have large prison populations and crime. But they will be around in a thousand years. Sweden will not. Which society in that light is more enlightened, and which is more cruel? In Ethics, survival of a people is a essential bedrock. No point having a Polis of soon to be extinct peoples. I don't dislike Swedes racially, or ethnically, not the language, not the food. It is the stupidity of the politics, of the ideology, how quick it is to accept death, quoting statistics everything is fine when everything is certainly not fine, and everyone except the Swedes seem to know this.
