Why are serious political arguments met with frivolous comments?

For all things philosophical.

Which "serious political argument" were you referring to?

It should be noted that when a particular poster, posts nothing but nonsense, other members tend to not pay much serious attention to his posts.

FYI, there is a "philosophy of politics" forum on this site.

And for yours, Philosophy of Politics is not the same as Politics.

Well Bob's posts are neither political, philosophical, nor make sense, so where else can he put them?

Whilst mainly nonsense they are political so he should post them upon a political forum but since he's probably been banned from every forum on the weeb I guess he should try and make them at least have some philosophical content as it is possible to do politics and be philosophical at he same time. Shame he hasn't the brains to do so.

The Lounge woul dbe my best guess are General but I think the mods will be deleting most of his threads anyway as they pretty much always devolve onto his obsessions.

So true.

Frivolity can be an effective counterargument to a serious [political] argument. Making light of a serious argument is a tactic that can make the very seriousness of it laughable. It is akin to looking askance at the person seated next to you, who is engaged in making an effective argument, while you are passing gas.

Why are serious political arguments met with frivolous comments?
Because they are always bringing frivolous comments with them when they are being met.
