You can't grab hold of the future if you are hanging on to the past.


Nowhere is that phrase more pertanant than in the realm of philosophy in our relation to the emerging, Digital Revolution.


Most of us here are making the adaption. The fact that we are here on a world-wide digital Ethernet forum exemplifies this.

Drilling-down into details, how are you philosophically adapting your complete lifestyle to communicating with smartphones?

Adapting your home or workplace with renewable energy?

Obtaining a driverless electric vehicle, or at least useage of Uber or Lyft?

And are you following the movement towards crypto-currencies?

Are you able to philosophically grab hold to the framework of this exciting, developing, Third Industrial Revolution in technology?

It's not always just for the sake of nostalgia. Many times, people hang on to what they currently use because people are famously bad at predicting the future. Many people are hesitant to install solar panels into their house or pool because, well, right now it just doesn't work very well. More importantly a better option could come up in the future. People often try to rush technological advancement for the sake of 'innovation'. The hyper-loop is a good example of that, and the result is something that just does not actually work very efficiently compared to its older competition.

As for online crypto-currencies and self-driving cars, the law keeps those in check from progressing. I think it seems likely that self-driving cars will eventually normalize, but it's still illegal in the vast majority of states.

To add on, I've seen no reports in months about accidents nor deaths related to these types of cars.
