What happened next...
Teresa May UK PM - addressing the nation after the Westminster Bridge attack. To indicate a tough stance pre-election; a need for change in counter-terrorism strategy. A great sentiment but does it translate into effective action. And then came the Finsbury attack.

Other disasters waiting to happen - when powerful people don't listen to the poor forsaken in concrete towers, or wherever. Why does it need a fucking great crisis before people wake up and say 'Enough is Enough'. They keep talking about learning lessons - JC - but they never heed the warnings of others who are most knowledgeable. And action is seldom taken after handing out the platitudes.

And so it goes...

Scenes of the audience at Woodstock show a borderline generation. They are folks caught between 1950's war refuge and the up-and-coming boomers. The scenes of ecstasy in the mud show a borderline generation deeply into their inner selves, both the good trips and the bad. The boomers took this and ran with it, knowing that conditions influence the trip.

The next cultural turning point will be when a mass movement arises to spontaneously yearn for something else, just as deeply as the Woodstock audience in those scenes yearned for something else. Then, the ostensible reasons to justify behavior were the end of a war, achieve a stasis of world peace, end suffering for all sentient beings, and have a party.

However, the next turning point will be a turning away of the inner journey, since by definition of turning point, a turning point begins a new direction, and because life evolves with push and pull.

The next something-else will be a turning into others, just as deeply as the borderline generation at Woodstock can be seen turning into themselves, in the historical record. Thus, the ostensible hippy manifesto will final come to pass, the intents will be realized by turning inward, but to other than oneself.

Turning into one's true self had to be done first, to show the way into another.

Now, the vehicles follow the inward road to oneself, often through the experience of shifting states of consciousness, however as Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj tells us, experience is not the real thing.

What vessel will turn the whole of attention to others just as effortlessly, just as completely, with just as much fun?

Well, what’s old is new again.

Goethe.
1786.
He had enough of his duties, a long platonic affair and immense fame; the claims upon his activity from within and without.
He slipped away and followed his dream to explore Italy incognito.

Reports of his travels from 1786-1788. The Roman Elegies. The Italian Journey.
Love: Christiane Vulpius who taught him 'to see with eyes that touch; touch with eyes that see'.
A relationship with Rome; poetic meditation and production founded on actual experiences. Inspiration in realities.
German youths flowing to Italy. Mass tourism.

Back again with your 6-bit wonders?
A bit obsessive are you not.
Not to mention tedious.

I don't think anyone else wants to respond to this thread.
And the time has come for me to move on.

I'll give it another wee while and then ask for it to be locked.
Thanks for your interesting contributions, Walker.
