Here is the text of a letter to the editor that I have just sent to the St.
Paul Pioneer Press:
"Regarding Joe Soucheray”s May 14 column about the racism hoax at St. Olaf College in Northfield, apparently, neither the college’s president, nor the offending student, know that the abiding purpose of higher education is the pursuit of, and adherence to, Truth in all activities. Further, this incident clearly shows how the process of politicization tends to corrupt people and institutions. I suspect that an attempt to expel the offending student would fail, thus clearly showing the decadence of the institution."
Comments anyone?

Here is a definition of 'politicization' from page 14:
"Politicization can be defined as that now pervasive tendency for making all questions political questions, all issues political issues, all values political values, and all decisions political decisions."

Re: Racism Hoax at St. Olaf College
You and Templeton seem to calling out "politicization" as a bad thing. I don't think it is, though I accept that it isn't always a good thing.
"The tendency for making all questions political questions" is itself a politicising definition. It seems on the face of it to be objective and judgement free, but just consider; is it really sufficient for Templeton's purposes to limit the application of the term "politicisation" to those case where every question, issue and value has been made political, and to discount as non-politicised any situation in which at least one question, or one issue, or one value has not? I doubt it.
So lurking in his definition is an implicit understanding that we can all agree which issues should count towards politicisation and which should not. Hmmm ... that''s a hidden premise that'd reveal a lot of Templeton's clandestine political leanings if it were ever to be unpacked and closely examined, I think.

This is so true. People don't take any topic on its own merits any more. Everything is based on your 'political leanings'. I've noticed this for a while. People seem to go into a confused trance when you suggest that everything should be looked at critically and rationally, NOT politically. You see it all the time. If you like Trump then his lies don't exist. If you like Hillary then her lies don't exist. If you hate black people then that means there is no police bias against them. If you are a religious fundy then there is no such thing as evolution. If you are a PC SJW then uncontrolled immigration causes no problems and if someone says it does it means they are a 'RACIST'!!! If you are a white sumpremacist then all people didn't originate from a small number of black 'Africans'. Facts are facts people. Politics can't alter facts and what is true. The truth doesn't change just because you don't like it or it doesn't suit your political agenda. Get over it.tbieter wrote:I'm currently rereading a classic, The Politicization of Society.tbieter wrote:Here is the text of a letter to the editor that I have just sent to the St.
