CRAIGSLIST; THE RISE OF FAKE NEWS AND WHAT IS LEFT TO YOU?

Craigslist is a now world-wide classified website whose development basically parallels the development of The Digital Revolution that we are now right in the middle of.

Before The Digital Revolution, before Craigslist, the main source of revenue of all major local newspapers throughout the world was their individual classified section.

Then Craigslist appeared. Within twenty-five years EVERY major world-wide newspaper publication was financially gutted or completely put out of business because of the loss of revenue of their individual classified section.

The comparatively few newspapers that exist today can support very little local reporting and no real reporting of any national, political, or business news. They are unable to meet even the most basic payroll.

News stories are now dictated to underpaid newspaper interns by the source spokesman of the actual intended story. Then those news releases are copy & pasted repeatedly without question or editorial filter.

Thus, the rise of Fake News. News that isn’t news. News that is really unfiltered public relation campaigns by mega wealthy corporations or mega wealthy individuals or the most well financed political party of each country.

I mean, yeah, actual disaster reporting still exists, if it bleeds it leads, along with sports & entertainment. But the fat has been trimmed even in these departments & continues to be trimmed. Why? The Digital Revolution; Craigslist.

Why Craigslist? Because Craigslist offers a much faster classified posting experience. A better, more full-bodied classified experience with more information available on every item along with color pictures. And Craigslist is free to use. All you need is a computer & internet access.

So, Craig Newmark created a better mousetrap at a much better price and the world beat a path to his door.

Ultimately the marketplace decided. Instinctively. Inevitably.

Craigslist was never advertised. Craigslist spread from San Francisco to over 70 countries now solely by word of mouth.

Craig Newmark never set-out to disrupt the entire news industry but he did. And continues to do so.

Now we; ALL OF US need to deal with fake news. Now each of us must filter and determine, from the news we are given, what is real - for us.

This is disruptive. This is a true revolution for our entire humanity.

As a living, breathing philosopher you are now forced to question and re-shuffle the very essence of your entire being;
What is real? What is fake? What is truth? What will it take to make it out alive within this human revolution?

Many folks conduct their Craigslist transactions in police station parking lots, if possible. If not possible, they adjust accordingly.

Are we supposed to know about or be interested in 'Craigslist'?

This is what many people say before experiencing the "faster, better, more-full bodied classified experience." Afterwards folks say, “Wow. That Cragslist is something else.” Bill is simply offering the conceptual touchstones for the uninitiated, in case the pure experience itself carries little significance for those mired in the complacency of technology. This deserves not only your care, but a caring attitude, and perhaps a bit of gratitude to repay the efforts and sacrifices required to bring this knowledge to light.

Agreed. Implications abound, just to name a few.

How will you adjust, living in a world with no authority and no truth?

Television is now undergoing the same disruption as print media. Through the internet, local advertisers can more robustly, more intimately, and more specifically focus-in and interact with potential customers.

The disruption is happening. The revolution is happening.

Which side are you on? Do you embrace the chaos and uncertainty or do you hang-on to old? The asunder.

In Greek mythology, Chaos (Greek: Χάος), according to Hesiod, Chaos ("Chasm") was the first thing to exist: "at first Chaos came to be" (or was) "but next" (possibly out of Chaos) came Gaia, Tartarus, and Eros (elsewhere the son of Aphrodite). Unambiguously born "from Chaos" were Erebus (Darkness) and Nyx (Night).

Are we entering into what initially will be the darkness & the night? The major, necessary uncertainty that is a part of this Third Industrial Revolution for mankind?

I don't see any connection between so-called "fake news" and Craigs list. Fake news, according to Trump, is real news, just news he does not like. He even admitted this from the White House just months ago, when he called articles based on leaks as "fake news" while also admitting that the news was true.

The real fake news is coming from conspiracy sites, and right-wing talk radio programs where reality is considered to be a vulgar word. How many times during Obama's administration did we have to hear that he was the anti-Christ? Or, that he was planning on murdering off millions of Americans and imposing marshal law? That he was going to refuse to leave office? That the swine-flu vaccine was going to kill off millions? That he was flooding the country with Muslim immigrants? That his wife was really a man?
The number of crazy claims that the right-wing made for eight-years against Obama would make for good comedy, but, since millions take these claims seriously, it's tragedy instead.
