The implications of Maxwell's equations

Post by Philosophy Explorer »

Normally I would put this under science, but it's really about math and we can credit Emmy Noether, an eminent mathematician, for giving us a deeper look at Maxwell's equations. The article is:

http://www.theguardian.com/science/life ... s-of-light

and the pertinent portion says this:

"Now there is a theorem due to the mathematician Emmy Noether which is well-known to physicists, and which states a deep relationship between conservation laws and symmetries...." The article is nontechnical and will help you understand Maxwell's equations further along with physics.
