I have no favorites myself. Whatever works is all I care about.
Still it's been debated as to which foundation may be best. So, e.g., we have Formalism, Intuitionism and Logicism among others. This is still an area of active research as Wikipedia has indicated.
Wikipedia has a long article on this. How this will get resolved is anybody's guess. For now, if you're interested, just click on the link and read up on the article.
