Funny thing to discuss in a philosophy magazine. Are the physicists taking over, I wonder?...Philosophy Now wrote:Tim Wilkinson answers the question Was Einstein Right? about general relativity with a “Yes!”.

For what I know, including what I give as a meaning to "know", he was right. Or wrong. But he was in one of them, not in both. Lets keep it clean, for the fucking false quote's sake.

Well, you have to distinguish the physics from the metaphysics. Insofar as the field equations describe the force of gravity, they are very successful. In that respect, Einstein's physics is right. As to whether the metaphysical model he based his physics on, four dimensional spacetime, is right; we don't know. On the other hand, his assumption that the universe is static looks very much as if it was wrong, and in fact Einstein called his inclusion of the cosmological constant the greatest blunder of his career. So was Einstein right? Yes, maybe and no.Dalek Prime wrote:Funny thing to discuss in a philosophy magazine.
