Having returned from the turn of the Fourth Century B.C. to the turn of the Twenty-First A.D., Socrates has eagerly signed on as a Philosophy Now columnist so that he may continue to carry out his divinely-inspired dialogic mission. This issue he calls in the hippes [cavalry, man].

Re: Dear Socrates Epicurus
Epicurus had it right.
Every thing besides thinking and repose was defined in the negative.
The word from whence school comes from Skholia, is that very quality of leisure; having the time out of a busy day of askholia to pursue the greater thinks of life, like learning, and drinking with others who question the nature of existence and the meaning of suc things as justice, happiness and life itself.
So work if you want; I'll go riding with hippies, on a horse or driving along the coast with a doobie.
