Careful! They are Words

Careful! They are Words
____________~0~____________

pick your words
like colors from a pallet

pick your words
like you'd pick a flower

pick your words
like notes for a melody

pick your words
for they have such power

words can hurt
words can hate
words can corrupt
words can devastate

pick your words
with care and gentleness

words can smile
words can love
words can laugh
words can care

pick your words
from the garden of life

pick your words
and see their flex

how many words
make up the world?
how many words
create our life?
how many words
compete for attention?
how many words
have spilled from lips

without caring
without sharing
without daring
without snaring
the beast within..?

take your time
select with grace
the words that make
your thoughts come true

take your time
choose with love
the words that spell
how you want it to be

words in their strength
have caused wars
have caused death
have caused remorse
have caused loss

be careful how you use them
these things are not simply
words
but bullets that can penetrate
the thickest of skin

be careful in handling words
for their potency
can destroy or create
depending how you shoot them
out of the cannon of your mouth...

Last night, before retiring, I made a note regarding this poem. When I rose, I made coffee and went online to the poem. In the quiet of the morning, I slowly read and reflected on words. I love this poem. I printed a copy and placed it in my copy of The Golden Treasury. Thanks again.

Thank you very much, tbieter, for both the kind words and the special place you've put my poem. It's an honor to be tucked in "the golden treasury of poetry". Maybe one day I will be one of the pages. 8)

The only "words" you should be "picking" are truthful ones, and understandable ones.

If it hurts when it snaps them out of their delusions, even better. The truth often hurts.
And if it didn't, then what incentive would they have to change?

Which is the problem with life. Life is suffering, but everyone is taught that it is not, and that life is worthwhile. The instinct is to survive, procreate, and prolong the suffering. It's a bit like putting your hand in the fire too long, after a while you see no reason to end the fire, you just make the fire hotter to further what little sensation you have left.

I thought of this wonderful poem this morning when I read the following scholastic text on words:

464 Words are signs of ideas, and ideas are the intentional likenesses of things, Hence, words signify things through the conception of the intellect.
VARIANT Words describe the mode of being that things have in our knowledge and not directly the mode of being in the things.

I wonder, though, what is a secular explanation offered for the origin of first word uttered by a human being?

What a wonderful poem...

A wonderfully universal poem. Even the pope must pick his words carefully, for he never knows when he may have to eat those words.

We are mindful of words only because we believe they cause an effect on some entity we believe to exist who is reading or hearing them.

There is reading and hearing, but no one is doing that, it's just happening from this boundless infinite space of aliveness.

It is that one, the entity that believes it exists who gives a word it's effect, not the actually word. This is cause and effect appearing within nothingness. There is nothing inside or outside of nothingness causing an event, nothing is everything, the cause is the effect. Cause and effect is one unitary action, if an effect is separate from the cause it is only ever a reaction after the event, the cause is ever acausal, in other words a causeless cause. There is no fundamental reality outside of you. There is none inside of you either.

Many words appear, many meanings are interpreted, but there is only one reader, hearer of words. That one cannot be touched by any word. What I mean by that is this... does the computer screen on which a word appears become effected at all by the word appearing on it? No, a word has no effect, the screen stays in tact, it does not get offended, it does nothing to rid the word from it's screen, it allows it to be there fully without fuss or attachment to it. Well that's what you are, you are like that screen, that's all you are. You are that in which everything is appearing else nothing would show.Besides, the screen can do nothing about what's appearing on it since it cannot separate itself from it's contents. They are one unitary whole. Without screen there is no word, without word there is no screen. This analogy applies to images also. Images and words contain no entity that can be effected by them, the entity is an energetic idea arising along side the word or image. But it's all a simulation, the problem is when the simulation is believed to be real.

Words divide what cannot be divided, hurt comes when identification is formed in reference to the word being read or heard. For example: I am reading this word, or I am hearing this word so I must be it. But what you are is not the word, the word is hijacked because what you are is without concept. The only you that does exist is a concept, and is why words seem to have a power over you because you believe you exist. That self does not exist....real existence is without self.

Words have no power whatsoever. It's not the word that's the problem it's the one who believes the meaning given to them. The you that you believe to exist is the one who puts reality out there using words, but who is that one, can that one be found? You can see the word, but can you see the meaning given to the word? Words have no meaning. Belief in their meaning is what's causing the effect they are having on you, but you is only an idea, a belief, or a concept, in other words a word. You appear to become the word, but you are never the word. You are no thing being everything. What are you without your name? If you never learnt a single word, what would you be? what would anything be? Animals and nature have no self because they have no language, with language appears an artificially created separate self that does not exist in nature.

There is no reality out there except the one you put there via language. All language is only ever silence speaking to itself, or silence sounding, no one hearing, just hearing, no one reading, just reading, and no one is speaking, there is just speaking, what comes out is just what comes out spontaneously without choice, there is no one choosing to carefully select a word, just as there is no one who selects their next thought, thoughts arise uninvited as do words.

Yes, there is the idea that there is a someone who can choose their words, choosing particular words only for the benefit of the one who is there for fear of what others think about them, or to reinforce the belief in itself and ensure the continuity of it's assumed autonomy, it's a false self contriving it's own personal reality to suit it's own personal requirements or agenda, but life has no agenda, only humans have an agenda, and it's okay to pretend that someone is there choosing their words. But that idea there is a chooser would still be just an idea, therefore any choice would still be a choiceless choice.

No one is choosing anything. You did not choose to be born because no thing was ever born, and that's the beauty of it, it's all so free. No thing can harm, hurt or bound this endless freedom of being no thing. Boundless beingness.
