All poems should rhyme.
That should be a law everywhere.

Careful! They are Words
Re: Careful! They are Words
mtmynd1, I love the way you have written about being careful with words and we definitely should be, but I do believe that words speak our heart/mind and so they reflect exactly what is in our heart/mind. So even if let's say I am not careful with words, truth to the listener/reader will hit home nonetheless, moreover there are instances where we are careful with using words yet others can take offence, so it's not about the words we use really, it's about our intent, that should be right.
Re: Careful! They are Words
yiostheoy,
Poem does not only mean rhyme, it also means no rhyme but lot's of metaphor, symbolism etcetera in there. One example is haiku, the one that does not rhyme (for it can rhyme too). Also, people write poetry that does not rhyme and is so beautiful like the one above, and also people write poetry that rhymes and is not good at all. Poem/Poetry is an expression in words and the expression can take various forms, we all have our own style of writing poetry and it is all fine.

Your very words I quoted makes my point, Beauty. You have obviously chosen your words in order to make your opinion clear and concise. I appreciate that and thank you for your reply!Beauty wrote:mtmynd1, I love the way you have written about being careful with words and we definitely should be, but I do believe that words speak our heart/mind and so they reflect exactly what is in our heart/mind. poetry is not the best
when read thru rhyme
but certainly in 4/4 time
as a song for the ears
and not for the mind.

to make poems consequential
they can be just as profound
as any unrhyming sound.
