You know, you're right, and there's nothing wrong with being runner-up. The nice thing is that you invented the game and really kicked England's ass (excuse me, arse, but I can say ass since the U.S. is No. 1).

It's more wins per head of population so maybe we're really the world's number one.

Slightly more seriously though, what's the general perception of golf in relation to class in other places? It's a game that's played by all classes in Scotland but I wonder if that's the case elsewhere because it has a rather classist reputation.

I agree, no comparison, one, sedate strolling around a park hitting a little ball with funny clubs, the other, guiding a vehicle at 225 mph and up to 5g through bends.
