Well bit of an argument there as the Dutch claim the first stick, ball, hole game but seems agreed that the modern game was an invention of the Scots and seems to predate the British Empire.

Yeah, I guess you'll do anything to escape the stigma of inventing a game, but unable to dominate it. It would be like the U.S. losing at basketball.
