Re: British Open
I like how you pretend to quote me, just another deliberate misquote.
I see your level of education hasn't gotten past the first grade and you're back to name calling since you can't put up any arguments against me. You're in the same class as Bob Evenson.

That was a rather nasty thing to say about VT, true but still nasty.

This short interview reveals the young man’s character.
He is extraordinarily frank and honest, and the final holes of the Open were jaw dropping.

Re: British Open
Philosophical point relating to the influence of political correctness upon linguistics:
In competitive golf, which includes amateurs, the Grand Slam is winning all four major tournaments in a single season. Each tournament has its own character, its own history and tradition, and its own difficulties in different places, but sometimes at the same course. The Grand Slam is so rare, that PC has had to create a new term in golf, in order for modern golfers to maintain relevance to greatness.
In recent years, the term career grand slam has seen more light of day. This is just what it says. Winning all 4 majors in a single career.
Spieth is 1 win away from a career grand slam. In 3 days he will be 24. Or, maybe it's 2 days. Some announcer mentioned his age.
To translate and why you should care:
When Spieth wins the only remaining major tournament that he has not won, he will be a golfing god.
He has the capacity to achieve the real Grand Slam.
If he does that, he will be king of the golfing gods in mortal form.
The implications are tremendous.
At the low end, commercialism will have its way.
Spiritually, in our lives here and now in this mortal coil, there is a closeness to greatness.
Muhammad Ali also had it.
To see Spieth handle greatness is fascinating.
On a broader scale, from family and friends I’ve known personally from that generation, he’s a good representative of “millennials.” In other words, many share his state of consciousness, and dedication to self-discovered purpose.

Another god! Wheee!
Oh wait... KING of the gods!He has the capacity to achieve the real Grand Slam.
If he does that, he will be king of the golfing gods in mortal form.
Makes sense that theists might apply this model over and over: To build-up and focus in one direction, defining gods, and proclaiming spirituality, thereby providing the illusions "to know" and "be close to greatness"?Spiritually, in our lives here and now in this mortal coil, there is a closeness to greatness.
There are other veins of spirituality, of course. Including... recognizing greatness everywhere, not needing "to know" to such a degree, and no need to imagine gods in the process. The broad range of possibilities in expressing and experiencing spirituality are fascinating, don't you think?
Re: British Open
There's still time to change the cosmology to correlate with the evidence.
Re: British Open
Really, greatness everywhere? What is great about a murderous death-cult religion?Lacewing wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2017 3:29 pmAnother god! Wheee!

Re: British Open
Yes but if it was the British Open then surely the victory belongs to Britain.Philosophy Explorer wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2017 4:10 am You may not care, but to answer the question, the British Open is a major golf tournament and Spieth is probably the best player since Tiger Woods to play the game (who are both Americans).

Then again, maybe it's his wife who's the winner (assuming he's married).Harbal wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2017 8:28 pmYes but if it was the British Open then surely the victory belongs to Britain.Philosophy Explorer wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2017 4:10 am You may not care, but to answer the question, the British Open is a major golf tournament and Spieth is probably the best player since Tiger Woods to play the game (who are both Americans).
