Although me and the kids enjoyed the cartoon and this film looks like pretty much a straight copy from that.

Yes, and Disney studios are big into stereotypes, wolves are always ugly, mean and nasty, nothing like Mowgli's wolves.

Very saccharine wolves tho' and I note that the baddies frequently appear to be English.
