Then again, I also liked the line in King Crimson's ConstruKction of Light: "And if Warhol's a genius, what am I? A speck of lint on the penis of an alien?" which was roundly lambasted by critics rather more socially sophisticated than me

My goggles are not of rose
I missed the train too often
When I blew up or froze.
So I will go to my coffin, knowing
That the past was sometimes shit
That I liked it a bit.
Not as good as my life today
Which is okay.

Yes, the world is going to hell
Reason hides in its scholarly shell
But history is cyclic
Though our future is seismic.

Things will one day settle again.
The survivors then will start a new reign.
And they will look at the past
Truly aghast
At what dickheads we have been
With a world once green.
So their goggles will be grey, not rose
I suppose.
But no one really knows.

Yes, I too am a bad poet
When I try to do it, I routinely blow it
But no one especially seems to care
Another small voice in the great data nowhere.

Once I get going I struggle to stop
Obsessive, compulsive and over-the-top
The rhymes keep on coming, like Pam Ayers's daggy ditties
Now I'll give it a rest before you people get shitty.

Being someone with a complete lack of appreciation of poetry, I shouldn't have commented on it. What I said about it was more to do with me being in a grumpy mood than the poem.

It's like a rap, Greta, and, although I wouldn't know the difference between a good one and a bad one, I've heard worse ones than yours.

It could be a strategy to back up one´s ego.
We erase bad parts (forgive the culprits if needs be) and then remember the past as something nice.
We polish the story of our life and enjoy watching it again and again.

Is solely due to red light shift!
As we look back into time
Like a Doppler siren, rendered deep by distance
Only longer wavelengths become prime
(Not Dalek) - this is physics in its consistence
Making a rosy impression, hence its persistence.
