"Draft-dodging" is a pejorative term that has no place in a philosophy forum.

I get it, you feel guilty for using the term, so you launch into your usual ad hominem attack.

Why would I feel guilty about a term that accurately describes what is being done? There is a war-draft and some rich buggers can dodge it.

It's not an ad ad hominem as you said pejorative terms have no place in a philosophy forum and yet you use pejorative terms all the time upon this philosophy forum, as such you are a hypocrite.

You make it sound like that's a bad thing. The bad thing is the fucking government drafting people, or to call a spade a spade, enslaving people!

Probably the only thing I've ever agreed with you on, but your motives are all screwed up.

Donald Trump has a black soul...
~ Khizr Khan ~

How racist. His son wasn't 'drafted' either. He chose a 'career' as a pawn/hired killer. Are we supposed to cry for him?

It's a bad thing when the children of the poor can't.

I know, you'd think in a democracy citizens would be willing to fight for it!!
p.s.
I notice your selective reading super-power is in action once again.

Please, nobody should be drafted for military service. Military personnel should be hired like the employees of any private company, and I guarantee you that there would be far fewer wars when the American taxpayer has to foot the extremely high bill!

Yeah, because US defense is such a bargain right now...

United States spends more on defense than the next seven countries combined;
China
Saudi Arabia
Russia
United Kingdom
India
France
Japan
TOTAL = $567 Billion

United States spends $596 Billion

* Thank god that, as an American taxpayer, I don't have to foot an extremely high bill for defense right now.

Well, I don't think you should be thanking God for the enslavement of American males between the ages of 18-35.

No idea why you are so bothered about this, just move to the UK or just say you won't go, they won't shoot you I presume or are you living in a complete tyranny?

We've had this conversation before so no point in repeating my thoughts about this idea of using mercs as you pay no attention to anything outside of your insanity bubble anyway.

In my opinion the one of the best ways to have a military in a Democracy, apart from having a fully professional army, is the Swiss/Roman approach of citizen/soldiers, you want to be an citizen and are of sound faculties then train to fight for it, a well regulated militia so to speak.

Well, let me know the day a limey soldier in battle can tell his commanding officer to take this job and shove it, and I just might take you up on your offer.
