Hiding in plain sight

Post by Dr Beer »

If a concept that has an extra linguistic capacity can be said to have truth then it follows that the natural world  (physics) is the baseline for a common truth (reality) and tying language to physics in a word is the object, object is the word kind of way would seem to suggest  that it's  possible to deduce properties of physics (nature) from properties of language.
Keeping this in mind,  if we now look at the arithmatic symbols representing division and multiplication and the functions normally associated with them, they appear to have an overlooked duality of meaning in much the same way as 'minute' can be a measurement of time or description of size.
Take the arithmatic expression 1x1=1  or just as an example, 3x4=12. It is clear the symbol '×' is simply representing nothing more than a  process of counting or addition. One one is one, or the sum of three groups of four being 12. Yet if we look at  the geometric 1x1 where the integers represent L and W and result in the new concept of square, its clear that the symbol '×' is representing a joining or merging of the qualities length and width in order to create the new concept.
A similar situation can be said to occur with the symbol ÷ representing  division.  On one hand we have the usual arithmatic x divided by y scenario where x is simply the sum of a number of groups of y and on the other we have the potential for physical division. If therefore two more symbols are arbitrarily invented that allow for the physical/geometric to be distinguished from the arithmatic some interesting consequences start to appear. One, bizarrely being the eradication of Irrational Numbers,  another being that the physical /geometric processes appear to have an extra linguistic capacity, for example in cellular division or when molecules such as hydrogen and oxygen merge to form water.
My feeling then is that these two qualities actually  co-exist physically as attributes of one entity and are in fact the most fundemental processes in nature not dissimilar to a magnetic force with its ability to attract and repel. As this force appears to have  no form or boundary, it is in effect quite literally invisible; an all encompassing, all pervading, omnipresent force type entity that is not currently described or provided for in the  classic laws/axioms of physics. A background force within which all other things exist and that if it were to disappear, life as we know it would simply freeze.
play nicely (May the force be with you :D )

You're welcome. Tell us if the hiding is effective.
