... the universe is like a cauliflower.

The more I think about it, the more the universe looks (to my minds eye) like a pan-dimensional mutant cauliflower.

Is it just me or does anyone else here think that we live in a cauliflower universe?

Or should I seek treatment?

Ta.

I would ask the moderators who thankfully look after our sensitivities like some tin-pot doctor or nanny, to create a veg section, as they seem to like vegetable posts.

Do you mean all of the universe or just the planet earth ?
Because a cauliflower is limited and the universe is not.

You can eat a cauliflower and it´s gone.
The universe cannot be eaten and it stays no matter what.

I do not quite understand the analogy. :(
Could you develop ?

"Life is like an onion" can make sense.
An NLP advisor explained once in a lecture that when we remove one layer of problems that prevent us from using our full potential the next layer of problems shows up and so forth.

Life is actually life any fruit.
You grow bigger and bigger. After a while your seed develops and by the time you are at your best you fall from the tree and start to rot.

You need to change your NLP 'advisor' as he/she obviously has no idea about NLP given the above, i.e. he/she is pretty much implanting a bad idea with no solution.

At least Metazoan has posted in what he thinks is an appropriate category.

Is this about me moving your posts? If so and you have an issue with me doing this then please PM me and explain why they should not be where they are.

My post was intended to illicit a response from anyone who thinks the way I do. I was fishing. I guess I'm feeling a bit lonely.

I had a go writing something for you but it got very long and untidy. I was not happy with it.

From what you say above I suspect you think the universe is a real place, the earth is a physical thing and you are a hunk of meat infesting it.

If so, that is really going to get in the way.

The universe I was referring to was a 'metaphysical' one which I see as the origin of my perception of a 'physical' one.

The cauliflower was a metaphorical one. You seemed to be much more comfortable with the metaphorical onion. Vegism?

So, do you think that there could be a non physical interpretation of reality that has an equal, or better, fit to the observed phenomenon?

If there was one, and it was so compelling that you could not return to your old physical interpretation, would you want to explore it?

Do you think you have a choice?

I am utterly shocked by the heretic opinions of those that have posted on this thread.
Onions, like orgegano are but single ingredients to his might oneness.
THe magnificent and Immanent oneness of the FSM, in who we all reside as ingredients.
We are, and the might onion; the oregano the holy Bay leaf and the stringiness of the spaghetti are but modes of the great substance of the universe of nature which is the FSM

Hi Metazoan

A pan-dimensional mutant cauliflower might be more difficult to imagine than yer ordinary, common or garden l'oignon.

I have found an all-singing, all-dancing variety - is this what you have in mind ?

http://www.eclectech.co.uk/b3ta/caulifl ... p.gif.html

Love the compost bin clip - where we all end up...along with all the mobile phones...?

Amazing where our thoughts take us - I now have an idea for my Hume supper... black pudding with a cauliflower/potato mash...
...washed down with a cuppa hot tea, yum !

Pah! May the Lord High Brassica bestow blessings upon both thine ears.

It is obvious that you have been infected by a parasitic meme; hijacking the natural ability of the human mind to resolve cognitive dissonance by disabling its ability to reason. Coupling this with the tribal nature of the human animal will make you either aggressive or seductive towards foreign and non meme carriers in order to infect or kill them. - Parasitology 101.

The meme has you and has blinded you to the fact that you have been assimilated by the deceptive.

Very soon sectarian tension will build up and there will the first bolognaise wars, parmesan will be spilled and people will be murdered in the name of the holy recipe.

After this, irony will stalk the earth.

The FSM was intended to put a stop to all this.

But we all know that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Save yourself...

Listen to me...

I will tell you of the Great Cauliflower of which we are all just a reflection of its infinite buddedness. Every bud unique but containing the whole.

OK, I lied, it is all utterly deterministic and you can't save yourself.

But I still think my meme is better than your meme.

(All this talk of memes; has anyone heard of the script theory of Eric Berne?)

Hi folks,

It is wonderful to see that this thread has acted as a lighting conductor for the hot topics of today.

I was so worried that it would simply get bogged down in a tedious discussion of the fractal nature of the expansion of Schrödinger like equations into a metaphysical space and the existence therein of emergent consciousness, resulting in illusions of physical worlds that would have a striking resemblance to our own.

I think we had a lucky escape.

Hi mhoraine,

Always good to see you back, you were away so long I thought you may have finally reached escape velocity.

Sadly, my firewall is locked down tighter than my wallet and it will not permit those links you kindly provided. But I think I get the idea.

I'm not so sure about cauliflower/potato mash... To me, cauliflower is best served in a strong cheese sauce, covered in even stronger grated cheese and grilled to within an inch of the fire alarm. There is something so yummy (if not a little carcenogenous) about the crunchy bits around the edge. (Although macaroni cheese is out in front on this score.)

It's been a long while since I had a fry up but I'm with you on the black pudding, I'll put the kettle on.

I'm told that if you don't fancy the deep fried Mars bar, as an alternative there is the deep fried meat pie followed by deep fried ice-cream. That way you can opt for CJD to distract you from your cardiac infarction rather than a diabetic coma.

I don't see that the universe doesn't end like a cauliflower, or anything else. All things are temporary. Cauliflower is as close as anyone has got as a description of what the universe is.

Thanks, Metazoan - but another Universe of Strokes called...luckily, nought to do with old King Cholesterol. Now, how did I get here, and how do I get back, or move on...?
