Do you consider consciousness -

Post by waechter418 »

1 to function like electromagnetism?

2 to be analogous to a monotheistic god concept?

3 to be an orientation tool?

4 to be active and/or passive?

5 to be evoked and/or eliminated?

6 to consist of strong and weak forces?

7 to be time/space limited?

8 to be a psychosomatic idiosyncrasy of homo?

No.

Hell no.

waechter418 wrote:

Largely.

waechter418 wrote:
4 to be active and/or passive?
Yes, both.

Not clear what you have in mind here.

waechter418 wrote:

Okay.

Brains exist in time and space. Consciousness arises in brains. So sure, why not. (Leastwise, since I am it would seem so to me.)

Watched a bit. But what's the big deal about arguing the mind is not the brain. Of course it isn't. It is what the brain -our sort of brain- feels like from the inside when functioning. The brain is an object the mind is or belongs to a subject. Not really a problem, is it? Should we really expect the consciousness experienced by subjects to reduce to the stuff of objects? I don't see why.

However, it certainly seems as if consciousness requires a brain. The brain itself is composed of stuff, entirely material, but it gives rise to to this experience we call consciousness. It gives rise to the qualia and the rest of it. C'est le vie.

Plants are acknowledged to be conscious too.

Have you ever tried to read up on it yourself, or do you sit here and expect others to hand feed you all the information?

Bullshit.

The correlation between mental acts and the physicality of the brain does in fact more than logically entail causality.
It demonstrates it better than any other correlation. Of you don't believe me take the blunt spoon challenge.

the trouble is that the ability to remember and reason and to know and to care about it screams that we are conceptually made by an intelligent conscious force.

I don't have thumbs on the pinky side so body parts that function conveniently screams personal purposeful invention.

fruits and veggies taste good and are good for you screams provision.

fine tuning screams manipulated engineered universe. 30 different constants that must not vary in order for us to exist.

so we are created to live in an otherwise senseless existence.

James gates finds special computer code in string theory.

nonlocality is a scientific fact screams that an intelligent dimension exists.

only option otherwise is that this is all a mindless fluke .
evolution has natural selection and that sounds too intelligent and purposeful to be a fluke

DNA has a code of specificity that is far more advanced than our computer code.

scientific terms try to suppress the notion of intelligent agency in their definitioning. for example the term information is used in physics.

information is considered the make up of reality.

And if your left brained you will think that everything is a fluke. right brained people reason more spiritually and would like to decode the intelligence of nature .

Consciousness is the empty container, I.e., Nothing....that is infinite and eternal that contains everything. It is not an epiphenomenon of brains. Brains and neuroscience occur within Consciousness.

Depends what you mean by function. EM is only a part of what consciousness is.

2 to be analogous to a monotheistic god concept?

Not even on the same page

3 to be an orientation tool?

Not even on the same page.

4 to be active and/or passive?

Both

5 to be evoked and/or eliminated?

Not sure who would be doing the evocation. But a bullet through the brain is a pretty reliable way of eliminating consciousness.

6 to consist of strong and weak forces?

Everything else does.

7 to be time/space limited?

Like the rest of the universe - dah yeah.

8 to be a psychosomatic idiosyncrasy of homo?

No. It is common throughout the animals kingdom where significant amounts of neural matter are present.

No. Consciousness in my vocabulary is the ability to experience. It is an ability of the mind, the mind being the essence of any being/thing with the ability to experience, decide and cause.
waechter418 wrote: Thu Dec 01, 2016 10:10 pm 2 to be analogous to a monotheistic god concept?
No. Consciousness is not a thing.

It is passive. Cuasation is active.
