Why can I watch porn no problem, but get shy at scenes of affectional sex in movies?

Can philosophers help resolve the real problems that people have in their lives?

Why can I watch porn no problem, but get shy at scenes of affectional sex in movies?

Post by -1- »

I can't watch sexual displays of affection in movies. I find them boring, disgusting, inappropriate to be shown. I feel like invading the privacy of two people who genuinely love each other and ought to be left alone to live out the love they feel for each other. In other words, I feel I am in a position of a Peeping Tom when I see two people touch each other lovingly, kiss, caress, and show physical details of the love they feel for each other. Especially when no lead-up in the story has been presented to justify it occurring. I get so disrattled by them, that I normally fast-forward the scene, I mean, skip over them.

On the other hand, I can watch porn by the truckload. It does not bother me.

Is there something wrong with me? If yes, you think so, please give your regarded opinion what the heck is going on here.

You are not expected to participate in the affection because it is a private and intimate thing between other people
You are however expected to participate in porn because it exists purely for the pleasure of you and anyone else too

That's because sex scenes as seen on movies and TV shows are some of the biggest pieces of festering vanilla dog shit ever did done seen. It's all kissing then straight to missionary position. They're so cringey. I was watching through Stranger things recently, which is a fine show but I just had to skip through the teen love-making scenes. It's worse when you watch this stuff with your sister or parents. I remember having watched Breaking Bad, and there was this part where Skylar is like munching on the lower half of walter's face, getting her mouth all over his chin and all I could imagine is the actress having to relish in the flavor of Bryan Cranstons crusty, gross old man chin shavings. Probably swallowed some of it, yuck.

I think its because you are watching affectionate sex in movies with somebody in the same room and you didn't expect it...
...whereas, you are watching porn in private with your pants around your ankles.

No, sorry, no, the circumstances are exactly the same: watching a DVD late at night, alone. Or during the day. You're right, the only difference is that my dick's in my hand when I do my stuff. But it's not that romantic scenes only come up in movies which I watch in the company of others. I get equally embarrassed by the romantic scenes, whether I watch them in company or by myself, with nobody else in the room.

It is not easy to explain. I think I'll go into counselling to find out why.

Wish me good luck.

If that's the epitome of saccharine-sweet affected affectionate schmaltz, then you haven't seen parents-children relationship portrayed in Hollywood movies. They make me puke. A perfect example of it would be ... shit, I can never remember names or titles. Anyway, the guy plays a psychiatrist, for chrissakes, and his wife is in bed with a broken leg, and their kid gets kidnapped, and they are forced to do awful things, but the kid somehow figures out he is not far from his parents... anyhoo. You watch the first five minutes of the parents interacting with the kid, and it WILL make you puke, vomit, piss and shit in the director's empty skull all at once.

I have not been able to watch a movie with the same male leading actor ever since. He makes me puke just seeing his affectionate face which you wish to plow with a harvest combine. Gad, this was an awful movie, made awful where it could have been good. The plot was good, the cinematography was nothing special, but nothing bad, the acting (other than the kid and the parts by the parents where they interact with him) was as expected: good, okay, believable.

I don't know how "affectional" crept in there.

And of course this is pathetic... it's the effin' counselling shit forum. If it were not pathetic, I would not need advice... if that's not obvious, I don't know what is.

This is the best answer so far... at least it makes sense.

Oh. So it's you. You should stop watching porn. You will go blind.

I don't think they are related.

One is to assist masturbation the other is about intimacy. If you are having problems with the latter then maybe a counsellor would be the solution if you wish to solve it.
