I think this must be handled on a case-by-case basis (I don't see a simple solution to this issue).

What do you mean by "should" in this instance?

Without clarification, I have to translate the question as:
"What in your biased and selfish opinion would you like to see Christian parents do with regards to disowning (or not) their gay sons/daughters?"

Parents are shit. The children should disown them.
