Anger as a tactic
Is there any political tactic with a baser appeal than appealing to anger?
No.
Who practices anger politics?
The calculating, reactionary politicians of perpetual outrage and emotion.
Why does it happen?
These days it gets attention, and in media attention is existence.
Compare the intellectual appeal of the Kennedy/Nixon debates with the comic/book level of emotional politics that predominates in the age of information. If folks keep evolving like this, outraged clubs will become as accepted a tactic as outrage and anger.

Re: Anger as a tactic
Actually, anger is an emotion that naturally flows from seeing an injustice.
Re: Anger as a tactic
Sure enough that’s what’s stirred up in the minions by crafty politicians using anger as a tactic. As the link indicates, outrage is quite selective.

Anger is a very useful emotion. Without it, we are likely to passively accept injustice. The emotion is not the problem. Manipulative arguments may be the problem, but not the emotion.

The irony is thick here.
Re: Anger as a tactic
Fer sure.
“The left likes to think that its anger is good anger because it’s angry over the plight of illegal aliens, Muslim terrorists, transgender bathrooms, the lack of abortion in South Carolina, the minimum wage at Taco Bell, budget cuts, tax cuts, police arrests, drone strikes and all the other ways in which reality differs from its utopia. But all that anger isn’t the road to a better world, but to hate and violence.”
