AUTOCUE

Post by Pluto »

Does it not matter - in terms of the authenticity of the message - that the words coming out of the elected official's mouth - are scripted and being read off a glass screen?

Yes of course it does - it means the speaker is the personification of that which is to be communicated - though his words need to be guided

No it just means that the reader has considered in detail exactly what he wants to say.
Contrast Trump and his verbal vomitus.

You mean speaker.

It is hardly ever coming from the speaker - there are speech writers of course - the public figure reads out the words penned by another or group of others - this is no problem supposedly with this - who in the history of politics penned his own words

But it shows that the image and the content are separate made to look as one

That is our media world now; where you must work through precisely what you're going to say - has it not always been so

Yes the speaker, who is reading, therefore the reader of the autocue.
Many pen their own words. Speech writers tend to refine what is to be said, not generated the sense, the purpose nor the thrust of the words.

This does not mean the content is separated. I've no idea what you want to do with the word "image" in this context.

The image of the speaker - if the speaker and the words are separate things being put together to create a certain communication, then the image of the speaker is equally constructed as are the words.

Reading from an autocue enables you to say what you want to say, that's all. When Trump speaks it doesn't matter too much that his words have been written by somebody else - he is the figure - the image, they want to present to us, along with his words of course, which are separate but made to go or fit together with the image (in this case Trump).
