Yes, I see what you mean, but the stuff could not exist without a thought - stuff is a thought, but thought is not what thought thinks it is...the stuff is not separate from the observation of it...there is not a consciousness here, and stuff out there separate from here....here and there are only ever here in the same space........so stuff is actually an appearance of consciousness which is not a thing, and cannot be any thing other than the no thing in which it's appearing in because it's inseparable from it.uwot wrote:Well, I have this slightly crazy idea that the most plausible explanation for all the conscious experience that gives the impression that there is a universe made of some stuff, is some stuff the universe is made of.Dontaskme wrote:How can it not be all there is? ... if there was something else....what would be the 'other thing' that is other than consciousness? can you answer that?
Any distinction made is by thought alone, which is also no thing.
The stuff like you've said is an impression of consciousness, and no impression can exist without a screen on which it appears...and yet the screen aka consciousness can exist without the impression because it is the fundamental precipitating ground upon which all impressions are formed...appear.
A conscious experience is no thing experiencing itself as an object known...in the exact same instant... so the no thing in which the object arises, as experienced.. is the only knower of that experience, therefore the knower itself cannot be an experience, but IS the experiencing.
In other words..no thing is conscious, there is only consciousness.... which is not a thing, but is that which knows all things as they arise inseparably appearing to itself alone.
Emptiness is form..form is emptiness.
Form is a precipitated condensed form of the formless appearing and known only to itself alone...the one that is sole witness to it.
This means that the universe is not made of stuff, it means the stuff is made of no thing in which it appears as stuff...aka things.
The existence of consciousness, although it is the fundamental fact of psychology, can indeed be laid down as certain, can be brought out by analysis, but can neither be defined nor deduced from anything but itself.
Meaning there is no such thing as consciousness or awareness except as an idea.
Just as the movie playing on the screen is seen only because there is a screen. But the screen itself is not seen because of the movie, which is all that's seen. But only seen because the seer is watching itself. The seer and the seen being both the screen.
The movie is as empty as the screen. The movie is the screen appearing as activity, it is an activity within non-activity. So not really happening independently from the not happening screen projector.
The movie called life is downloaded by the brain/mind mechanism, from the same one source of information. This field of information, namely, the memory is where every single thought that could ever be is stored. Therefore all individual brain/mind mechanisms are downloading and sharing the same reality...that's why we all see the same things....but since no thing has ever been seen, since things are empty images..all we are looking at are known images evidenced as seen by the only seer there is which is consciousness invisible even to itself.
So you see...if there's nothing but consciousness, then consciousness is nothing. And that the everything seen and known by consciousness is the ONLY seer and knower. Seer and knower are the same meaning... same no thing, meaning, everything is nothing, and nothing is everything. They're the same ONE appearing as subject and object duality.
The I that is believed to exist is none other than an idea known by that which is unknowable.
