Re: Relativity?

Although there is NO actual evidence, yet, some human beings will still accept and/or believe that human bodies will age slower with speed? It is the wording of others that claims they do. I say they age normally with speed. "Normal" to what, exactly? Why is it important that they be twin...

Re: Relativity?

It just naively assumes that a twin in space still ages at the pace of one day per day, something that ken apparently finds implausible. NO I do NOT find that implausible. Assuming that a living organism will react the exact same way a human made clock does, is some thing I will NOT assume. You jus...

Re: Relativity?

You can make up your own mind about the metaphysics, as can any of us, but I very much doubt that any of us will contradict any other regarding the empirical data. Of course you would NOT. You all totally accept and/or believe that the "empirical" data is 100% absolutely correct, right? I...

Re: Relativity?

c applies to light moving through space but c does not apply to space itself, so space can move faster than c and it carries everything in it along. Space, or what you call 'space', could only move faster than light if the Universe is NOT infinite nor eternal. Incorrect. Also space is not "mov...

Re: Relativity?

We cannot know is an absolute knowing statement is an absolute statement too. Yes it is, or, it could be seen that way. Can you show how some things can not ever be known? I would suggest that we ALL can agree that some things are not YET known. Do you disagree with this? But, how do you KNOW "...

Re: Relativity?

Can absolute truth be known by some but doubted by others Yes. Standing on a spherical earth was known by some but doubted by others. What is absolute truth anyway and can you give an example of a statement that you know is absolute truth An absolute truth is that even if every thing is accepting o...

Re: Relativity?

Copying and repeating what others have said and/or written more accurately is what sadly some people think is learning, and the more accuracy one person just repeats or copies what others before have already said and/or written, then it is perceived by some, very depressingly, that that person has ...

Re: Relativity?

A mob is not necessarily correct in their judgment, as all of humanity could equally be limited. Remember that once the majority believed the earth was flat, they were the authority. Do you really want me to start talking about religious dogma now? Galileo's, Copernicus's and others opposition of t...

Re: Relativity?

What we know is that processes happen less frequently the greater the speed, and/or the stronger the gravitational field. We know that, because we can see it. What we don't know, is the mechanism that causes it. I guess, at the risk of giving some here the chance to cackle that relativity defenders...

Re: Relativity?

I don't know why these people go on with this stuff. I think that I, uwot, Noax, and others have made clear that we do not regard theories as definitive truths. So what is the argument? You, and others, propose things as definitive truths. You, and others, do NOT know if those things are definitely...

Re: Relativity?

Look at my message count and my join date, idiot! You newbie troll!!! Argument from seniority fallacy, which is not the way to drive home the parroting charge. Will I also become the target of the ad-hom storm that seems to be going on? I've come to expect that from davidm ... I must beg to differ....

Re: Relativity?

You can choose to be a clone or an original, it's up to you! And a clone you surely seem to be! Spheres, people who take the trouble to familiarise themselves with current research are not clones, they just know what the facts are. I think you will find that people who read some things in order to ...

Re: Relativity?

No one here -- not I, not noax, not uwot, not thedoc -- claims "certain and complete knowledge," Well, from the way each of you write, none of you come across that way. nor do any of us claim that a theory is anything but a defeasible model. You may now say that you, and others, do not cl...

Re: Relativity?

I'm simply saying that as to the true nature of time, if it even exists, no one can say they necessarily know. That's been dealt with on this thread. Whatever the "true nature of time, if it even exists", the only thing that we can measure, or count, is periodic events. But there are NO a...
