Re: Has religion been a boon or a bane to mankind?

"women who send their daughters" = flim flam. You do realise that it is common for people to participate in their own oppression. I do not understand. You quote me saying " women who send their daughters " and comment that it is ' flim flam ', presumably meaning ' it doesn't hap...

Re: Has religion been a boon or a bane to mankind?

Sorry to keep confusing you with information, but I don't think we can even make the easy connection between FGM and misogyny. Er.... FGM is misogyn. Seriously I do not think a culture that practices that can be said to consider women on an equal level of man. You do not that it's a bit more than j...

Re: Has religion been a boon or a bane to mankind?

The koran is full of words stating to kill non believers. The word of Christ is the only direct lineage to God's word within the bible - find something from the Gospels that states such. The Koran really isn't 'full of words stating to kill non believers'. As I wrote earlier, the bits that always g...

Re: Has religion been a boon or a bane to mankind?

I'm not an idiot. Yes. I do realise that SOME bankers might be Jews etc.etc. You didn't read what I wrote. The claim that they own ALL the banks, or 'control the world' has no basis in fact. The claims are that some entity called 'the Jews' runs pretty much everything. God you are hard work. Your p...

Re: Has religion been a boon or a bane to mankind?

The Jewish 'Bolsheviks/own all the banks/run-the-world/control the US..' blah, blah claims, fall into the category of conspiracytard theories with no basis in fact. That's hardly the same thing as FGM, which we know for a fact occurs. I was merely pointing out that you became miffed at my mentionin...

Re: Has religion been a boon or a bane to mankind?

I would have thought all the blowing up of random people would do more to create hatred against muslims than a simple comment. I'd never heard of anyone else doing it until now. It's only muslims you ever read about practising it. I suppose 'honour' killings aren't a muslim thing either. And your a...

Re: Has religion been a boon or a bane to mankind?

Not forgetting the disgusting misogynistic muslim practice of female genital mutilation. It isn't particularly Muslim. Within those countries where it happens it can be the practice amongst all religions, for example in Egypt amongst both Muslims and Copts. Elsewhere it can be concentrated in a par...

Re: John Bercow and Ethical Consistency

John Bercow and Ethical Consistency There is such a thing as ethical consistency [albeit most people are less than consistent]. If John Bercow can rebuke President Trump for his views on 'rights' as the leader of a country with some pretentions to democracy. He might also rebuke China and other cou...

Re: Has religion been a boon or a bane to mankind?

Hitler, Stalin and Mao were not atheists. Each believed themselves to be a god, and there was so little trust that none dared reveal "that the emperor was wearing no clothes". These cults of personality are a long way from atheism, which declines to make any deity claims whatsoever. The S...

Re: Has religion been a boon or a bane to mankind?

I'm happy to compare doctrine - you show me yours and i'll show you mine. We are only just realising in the most dreadful way the truth to Islam. You must know that when you point out bits of the Koran that refer to fighting, Muslims will always point out that the context is Muslims being attacked....

That's how it gets justified.

Our own religion is entirely peaceful; but we have to defend ourselves against all those savage Christians, Jews, Muslims, Pagans, etc.

Re: Language Negation and Randomness

My response was to point out that there's a mathematical definition of randomness such that it's sensible to say that nothing sensible can be said. Just looking at the word, I would ask what the opposite of 'random' would be? I would think it would involve 'selection' or 'purpose'. Suppose I was as...

My views are there, in black and white, and can be read by anyone wishing to do do. What I say is very different from what you say I say . I have referred people to the relevant thread. I have pointed out that you never actually contradict my account of your views. It is important for me to do this...
