Re: When (or how) do "I" originate: An Ontological Puzzle...

What if the "i" was formed into an "I" and you cant ever escape it no matter how much you are fooled into an illusion of such being? So perhaps in your mind you have created an illusion, but the darn thing exists anyway, and you are merely creating yourself to act as though you ...

Re: On simplicity of God

If the universe is eternal would we have a linear progression of events that extend infinitely into the past? The universe will simply fade from its current state, and die a certain death, yet it is here at this moment in eternity, active and alive. What would be the previous state of the universe f...

Re: Space is Order; Reason and Meaning are Inevitable

I must be a foundationalist. As i hold that there are axioms that really do present themselves. But i wonder if science merely paint pictures of reality that are useful but have no explanatory power in actuality. Causal relationships appear at an intuitive level. But underlying those causal relation...

Re: Religion Is .....

Religion is a recognition of the spiritual sense within. To reach beyond the self only, and see the selfless motives. That love is an actual force. Religion is the pursuit of virtue and seeing virtue as reality. Religion is also to attain to a higher power and find it within ones self. Religion is a...

Re: Poll on the validity of two arguments

I cant help thinking that to trace C to its roots of origin in A, we may find ourselves never able to get to the origin A because A , B, and C do not leave traceable knowings. And from whence did A spring from. Instead of linear cause and effect, it could be a loop. Where C keeps A and B in business...

Re: Space is Order; Reason and Meaning are Inevitable

Where does reason and meaning become as an inevitable result of the order of space? I like to think from order springs logic, from logic function, from that reason, and from reason meaning. But its a big jump from physical to reason and meaning. I invoke the abstract as reality. And sense ...

Re: Why is pride a sin?

Pride in the Bible is vastly different then today's definition. Pride in the Bible is about feeling superior to others and not at all caring for others because of superiority. Pride is despisal of others and feeling vain excellence considering others not worthy of existence. Pride in the Bible has z...

Re: No God as a Quality and Quantity of God.

Consider the source of the knowings. Any individual or group can falsely denigrate a body of knowledge. As far as God goes, if one sets up a terror to the unbelievers; God, then that God has to be considered useless. Conjuring a God is a very primitive and childish trick used to provoke fear in thos...

Re: How something which has no form, soul, can be detected?

The body itself could work as a soul. Then again where is the I located in the brain. The puzzle dont seem to fit. So you will have to exhaust every physicalist avenue first. And then what remains must be true.

Re: Nothing happens in your brain.

How would you even go about proving that an abstract non physical reality exists? The same route as proving the prover. Who knows the physical and can that knower be proved by some thing physcial? . If the knower has animating qualities ; outward expression, you can reasonably say that knower exist...

Re: Nothing happens in your brain.

How would you even go about proving that an abstract non physical reality exists? If you can rule out all other options, then what remains, however unlikely, must be true. That perhaps could apply here. I would think every bit of science depends on physical detection. Something non physical has no d...

Re: Buddhism's 4NT-8FP is a Life Problem Solving Technique.

For society to work you have to care about something or someone. Caring leads to inevitable suffering because of permanent inevitable loss. There is no remedy for that kind of suffering. You can only ennobilize it, and reconcile it, by admitting that one day i will go the way of what i lost.
