Can you give us an example of an objectivist's reasoning regarding the wrongness of stealing?

Nicely and concisely put.
So if one person objectively thinks that stealing is morally wrong, and another person subjectively thinks stealing is morally right, what way is there to determine who is correct? :?
None, by way of Subjectivism.
So by what other means can it be determined?

Re: Is morality objective or subjective?

Because you have no way of knowing if it's even "moral." Subjectivism can't reveal that to you. Of course I have a way of knowing. We all know that stealing is a moral issue, so if I have feelings about stealing, I know I have feelings about a moral issue. The thief has different feelings...

Re: Is morality objective or subjective?

If a person subjectively thinks that stealing is morally wrong, and that disinclines him from stealing, why do you describe that as not working? I think your idea of working morality is the sort that would enable you, for example, to tell others how they should behave. Because if one person subject...

Yes. Because he has no idea why he has that twinge. And if it's just a twinge, he has no justification to trust it at all...anymore than a twinge of hunger, or lust, or rage, or greed, or any other twinge. That doesn't answer the question. If my moral feelings motivate my actions, then my moral fun...

Re: Is morality objective or subjective?

My argument is that Subjectivism doesn't work at all, If a person subjectively thinks that stealing is morally wrong, and that disinclines him from stealing, why do you describe that as not working? Yes. Because he has no idea why he has that twinge. And if it's just a twinge, he has no justificati...

Re: TRUMP AHEAD?

You have said absolutely nothing so far to show that objective moral truth is even possible, I've done better. I've shown that Subjectivism is im possible. It has no moral content. And I have shown that it does have moral content. The fact that the moral content could vary widely in quality is not ...

Re: TRUMP AHEAD?

That's how dumb Subjectivism is. Practiced consistently, it will not even give you warrant for an assessment of Trump at all. You'd have to convert to Objectivism to have any coherent way to do that. Okay, give me some relevant objective moral facts on which to base a "proper" moral asses...

That's only because they're actually not Subjectivists. Just like you're not. What they actually believe is that their most prized values (such as Trump-hating or abortion-supporting ) are objective and compulsory for all right-thinking people, but that they don't want to have to honour objective m...
