The Struggle for the Soul of America

There is a struggle going on for the soul of America. Should Americans struggle to regain the principles it was founded upon or seek to transform it into a statist utopia as suggested by others such as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton "We do not merely destroy our enemies; we change them." ― George ...

Re: Scapegoats for Secular Progressives

Greta Do you believe in any kind of afterlife? Yes, but it would be hard to explain in a post. However if you are open to what Meister Eckhart writes it will provide a foundation. The seed of God is in us. Given an intelligent and hard-working farmer, it will thrive and grow up to God, whose seed i...

"even if we can't prevent the forces of tyranny from prevailing, we can at least "understand the force by which we are crushed." Simone Weil One way of preventing the forces of tyranny from prevailing is to not vote for the biggest autocrat and environmental vandal! The claim about freedom and avoi...

Christianity is part of a perennial philosophy and this philosophy always was. ... Always was what? The essence of Christianity didn't begin with Jesus: he actualized it. ... I think you'll find the clue is in the name. The very thing which is now called the Christian religion existed among the anc...

Re: Verbal abuse and cyber-bullying on Philosophy Now forums

Yes, I judge you as a Trump fan. How can you support someone so dodgy, who is such a liar and so keenly destructive of nature at a time when ecosystems are in trouble? How can you support a secular progressive philosophy which seeks to create subservient slaves of the Great Beast and the loss of th...

Re: Secular Spirituality

When you remember that esoteric spirituality recognizes a source for creation including human meaning and purpose within it while secular spirituality has the Great Beast as its god, it clarifies why there is no common intellectual space. When people as a whole begin to experience their nothingness ...

Aww Eodnhoj7, I was hoping to stay off the point of the OP - that horse has well and truly been flogged (and it turned out just to be a guy in a horsey suit anyway) and I quite enjoy dimensional chit chat :) Just start a thread in the metaphysics or math section on whatever topic you can think of, ...

New Wine Into New Wineskins

Jesus’ parables can be read with different qualities of understanding. They can be rejected outright or limited to worldly interpretations by the secular mind. The religious mind can interpret them literally and fall victim to self deception while some may begin to open to the depth they include. I ...

Re: Scapegoats for Secular Progressives

Greta Actually Nicholas, I'm talking about the applicability of different methodologies for personal growth aka transcendence.
