Re: What's stopping us from seeing the truth?
That of course was just a line out of a movie with no further significance. Great question about recognising the truth though. Re: What's stopping us from seeing the truth?
I'll probably regret it in the morning and maybe its been said before as well but I had to come back and say, "You can't handle the truth". Not to any one in particular but to all and sundry, as I said previously sometimes we're not ready for the truth about something.

Without reading the previous 100 replies I'm compelled to jump in and say we do see the truth as we see it. We are hopefully talking about reality here and if so I will have to read the other 100 replies to find more answers to that question. I'm sure its all been said before but we all have limitat...

Re: Check out this ethical issue..I need some clarity please
This is where people's values come into play. If the desired results cant be tested or obtained in any other way, the governing body with the power to make the decision will have to make the choice. Re: Can we learn from our mistakes?
We can learn from our mistakes, the question is do we or how quickly. Learning from our mistakes would suggests there is a better way of doing something to avoid possible adverse consequences or to gain better results for instance. Sometimes I dont see the problem until there is one and then I try t...

Re: What is the meaning of life?
Thats a lot of big words for someone claiming not to be very smart. Where does that put me relying on the idea that "life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved"?

I'm glad to have joined this forum with others who enjoy this thing called philosophy. Although it requires a certain amount of discussion and argument Ive reached that stage where I'll no longer impress anyone even if I tried and quite often I find even trying not worth the effort. Is it me or us b...
