Re: Kant's Four Questions
Quick answer, I suppose to an extent I sort of believe in an aspect of perennial philosophy, but I haven't looked into it too deeply. Based upon the blurb that you shared, I would call my impression of that an expression of the "Human Experience" which is an aspect of the "Human Condi...

Re: Kant's Four Questions
Well I still don’t get it. Newton’s first law of motion states: An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.. .... I’ve come to believe in the value of the Socratic axiom “Know Thyself...

Re: Kant's Four Questions
Instability would be a rough concept of the unbalanced force in my book, but more than that I can't say for certain. If this argument borderlines on a "unmoveable mover", or a "Prime Mover". I don't know what to make of that. For all I know that is a byproduct of our language/sen...

Re: Kant's Four Questions
.... In respect to allowing us to play in the sandbox. Immediately, my predecessors...like my parents, and then theirs, and so forth all the way back to the primordial ooze that sludged around..., and even further back "No-thing" itself. But what is the incentive for this process? What is...

Re: What would you think of such a world?
I agree it's fucked up, but there's not a whole lot, I as an individual, can do about it. Perhaps the best we can do is evolve ourselves first. Such as, expanding beyond the stories we're told, choosing clarity over ego, and choosing honor over power. If we can do that individually, then maybe it w...

well, take the instance that a child is indoctrinated into "Religion" at a young age..., and often conditioned with responses to said controls. It shapes a personality at a fundamental/foundational level as to where even questioning the belief system takes a lot of years. If they even do so.

Re: What would you think of such a world?
Personally, I don't think that said world would be much different other than the perceived switch in gender roles. Well, it does seem that men and women are very different, doesn't it? They have different priorities... and different things that fulfill them... and different strengths and weaknesses...

Re: What would you think of such a world?
I want to tilt at this windmill, but I also know I really shouldn't. Personally, I don't think that said world would be much different other than the perceived switch in gender roles. To me, my thoughts which have caused problems with friends, is that we should approach this from the "Veil of I...

Re: Can a Society without Guilt, Shame, or Fear exist?
It's a valid opinion. I just do/did so because I didn't want to overly bias the conversation, and because I didn't want to write a wall of text on a thought that may turn into TLDR because of length. Thank you for your input. What sort of supporting thoughts can you provide to your opinion about a f...

Can a Society without Guilt, Shame, or Fear exist?
A bit of background, let's assume that up until now all societies have been based around those three, and have utilized them as a means of social control and conditioning. Ie you fear the effects the law may have upon you if you break it (fear). You feel disgraced when not living up to expectations ...

Re: Kant's Four Questions
hmm, I've entertained the Pantheist perspective before, but it didn't really suit me. To illustrate why, instead of a grain of sand. Let's escalate to an ant in a colony (or a bee). That should be a similar enough analogy to the cells in a body, and the human organism as a microcosm, right? What it ...

Re: Kant's Four Questions
Interesting article, I have a few comments to make off of it later on, but to answer your query about if objective reality would still exist if earth was hit by an asteroid. In order to do so, I'll ask a question, "What worth is a grain of sand to you?". To see a World in a Grain of Sand A...

Re: Kant's Four Questions
What is your goal for philosophy? Why are you interested in it? Is your interest aimed at furthering your denial of objective meaning or opening to what conscious experience can prove? We are alike in that we both know that life on earth is absurd. However is Man doomed to perpetual absurdity or ca...

Re: Kant's Four Questions
Well, it happens to help if you've been diagnosed and treated as "insane" for ~7 years both by others, and yourself as a result of said treatment. Especially to find an appreciation of paradox because you can gain more lateral room to maneuver in thought/ideas/life. I wouldn't advise going...

Re: Kant's Four Questions
Nothing, itself, does satisfy a fundamental meaning for existence at the depth of our being. I don't mean that there is no "value" to "nothingness". Nothing is a positive value when taken in a second case. The first being this thing is "worthless". The second case is, i...
