Re: Relativity?

If I recall correctly, it is you who said some thing like a 'theory' is not a fact but is subject to falsification? Correct. If this is correct, then 'special relativity' is still subject to falsification... Correct. Now, is 'special relativity' a fact or a theory? It's a theory that successfully e...

Re: Relativity?

It would also help if you explain what 'general relativity' and what 'quantum mechanics' is, to you, and, also let us know if you think or believe they are facts or theories. We've explained to you many times the difference between facts and theories, and how they relate. As usual you ignore what i...

Re: Verbal abuse and cyber-bullying on Philosophy Now forums

I really wish people wouldn't buy into Nick's willful mischaracterization of Einstein and read the Einstein quotes that Nick cherry picks in context. Touche, but the context would have been nice then. Did you imagine that a charlatan like Nick would supply you with context? He's a cherry picker; th...

Re: Relativity?

If some human beings want to conceptualize a stationary frame, then that is fine. But that does NOT mean that there is in fact an actual stationary position nor frame. derp! That's the WHOLE POINT of the theory -- that there is no ACTUAL "at rest" frame. And no one here said that there was -- quite...

Re: Relativity?

What people HAVE said, correctly, is that any future theory that supplants general relativity or reconciles it with QM will have to incorporate the FACT of time dilation. But then you don't understand, or affect not to understand, the difference between a FACT and a THEORY. Fact: populations evolve ...

Re: Relativity?

What do you mean by Hypotheses have to be subject to potential falsification or else hypotheses are deemed invalid Without potential falsification there is no way of knowing if a hypothesis is true or false If hypotheses ( some thing ) are not subject to potential falsification then does that HAVE ...

Re: Verbal abuse and cyber-bullying on Philosophy Now forums

"The true value of a human being is determined primarily by how he has attained liberation from the self." ~ Albert Einstein He should have stuck to Physics. I really wish people wouldn't buy into Nick's willful mischaracterization of Einstein and read the Einstein quotes that Nick cherry picks in ...

Re: Relativity?

Noax, I understand from something Ken wrote that he is concerned about the inductive gap. This can explain Ken's doubt that the planet is sure to be round. Yet Noax, uwot and I have repeatedly and freely acknowledged that scientists do not claim to be absolutely sure of anything. So what's his prob...

Re: Scapegoats for Secular Progressives

You have now confessed to being a white male over fifty so by progressive standards you are a part of the problem. This is your typical hallucinatory strawman of “progressive standards,” in which, among many other defects, the word “progressive” is ill-defined. It is also your strawman of what actu...

Re: Scapegoats for Secular Progressives

You have been repeatedly educated as to the true meaning of “secular,” which includes many religious people. That you persist in misusing this word shows that you are either willfully ignorant or a liar, perhaps both. “Secular progressives,” however they are defined, are not seeking utopia. I’m a wh...

Re: Relativity?

So, to you, sounds like there is NO inconsistency at all in relativity, and that there is NO point in continuing to falsify relativity, correct? If yes, then that would imply that relativity is about as solid as some thing could be, right? It's amazing how many times we have answered these question...

Re: Relativity?

Learning how to showing you human beings WHY you as a species are consistently inconsistent in your models, hypothesises, predictions, and findings is what is far more important to Me. Except you've shown no inconsistencies in the relativity model. It's also funny how you insist on writing as thoug...

Re: Compatibilism is impossible

I think we can agree on the fact that brain is a set of neurons which they interact with each other. Any mental state, physical state of brain, leads into another mental state by following laws of physics. This is a deterministic chain of causality. Free will in another hand is the ability to initi...
