Never really was part of such a forum, usually posted my rants here and there, kept them to myself, or talked them over with people who could bear them. Let's see how it goes.
The dialectic is one of the roots of philosophy, welcome.

Re: God Exists Because God is Unnecessary.

So you're saying consciousness is constant because it's always observing, but changing because what it observes is constantly changing? Yes to a degree. But what is observes often times is frequency as a constant, when viewed 1 dimensionally, or "change" when viewed through the multiple dimensions ...

Re: Infinity has gotten stranger

I don't like the expressions duality - singularity - plurality. The three serve no purpose, their categorizing capacity is extremely simplistic. I always thought so too; just something philosophy makes more complicated that in reality is barely a problem. Philosophy seems more often a clash between...

Re: Infinity has gotten stranger

In these respects, what we understand of sets (although I do not believe set theory equates the set to "1" in itself) is in fact a duality conducive to two. All I'm saying is that a set is regarded as a single entity; yet it is identical to a collection of many entities. In that sense a set is a du...

Re: Dreams

JohnDoe, getting a Ph.D. is easy, compared to how hard it is to get a job with it. The competition is fierce, and only half of Ph.D.s have a pH level job. If you don't have the right connections, forget it. Your time to get a Ph.D. in order to get a high paying job is better spent looking for stamp...

Re: Dreams

Not meaning to Scully your Mulderian mystery, but ruling-out that you were literally on a table surrounded by a group of men messing with your elbow... ...and ruling-out that the dream was a strangely configured premonition of your inevitable morning glance of it (the mark) while brushing your teet...

Aww Eodnhoj7, I was hoping to stay off the point of the OP - that horse has well and truly been flogged (and it turned out just to be a guy in a horsey suit anyway) and I quite enjoy dimensional chit chat :) Just start a thread in the metaphysics or math section on whatever topic you can think of, ...

Re: God Exists Because God is Unnecessary.

What do you mean, 'Consciousness as constant and changing'? It is unified in the sense it is self-reflective, or directed into itself. It is multiple in nature, or changing, as it exhibit a dual extramensional nature in which it projects past its own origins to observe the world around it. It is un...

Re: God Exists Because God is Unnecessary.

It seems to me consciousness is necessary for dualism, but conscious itself is not dual. Consciousness as constant and changing observes a dualism at minimum. Consciousness as "observing" is constant, what consciousness observes however is changing. The one splitting consciousness into two cannot s...

Re: Dreams

Brits, Aussies, SoAfs, and Engs, Picts and Londoners also had horrible times understanding me. I lost a teaching job once in at a college partly because some English-born students complained to the administration that they could not understand a single word in my lectures. I was easily fired as I w...

Re: What Will Heal the Division between the Sexes?

My guess is womens "love" of you was directly proportional to the amount of money you had at that time. Women are sex objects. Men are success objects. Women who don't date low status men perpetuate the patriarchy. Most feminists are anti-femininist. When a woman rejects a low-status man, it perpet...

Re: Verbal abuse and cyber-bullying on Philosophy Now forums

Eod, my point was mainly that perfection is purely theoretical - the existence of anything is inherently a fluctuation, an imperfection. Imperfection exists as a gradation of perfection if and only if there is perfection. Movement (or change) follows the same course as a gradation of stability. You...
