Re: How does time work?

changes in the environment would be indicative of the force of time. I would imagine time moving faster in other parts of the universe. however it's pretty consistent on earth. almost clockwork. What there is, is change, flux, process. Time is a secondary concept derived from the notion of change a...

Re: Representative Governments

If you are capable of arguing for the EC, then I'd like to hear it. Until then I'll assume you do not have the wit. I presume you are familiar with the EC as a compromise at the Constitutional Convention to get the less populous states to even join the Union (the United States) in the first place, ...

Re: Looking for God in all the wrong places.

Where to find God? An important religious question. Atheists claim to have looked and found God nowhere. Religious people differ seeming to find God in various places, some find God in another realm or world (heaven) and God periodically visits us to intervene in supernatural ways to reveal himself ...

Re: God is a concept of a being that inspires us to try to be more than what we are.

If you do not believe in anything greater than yourself, you will not accomplish anything greater. Religious inspiration has been the source of much of the worlds great art, literature, music, architecture and even society. Granted religious inspiration has also been the source of much war, death an...

Re: Representative Governments

A representative government sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe one day we will try it? Representative of whom or what? Representative of people's interests rather than those of institutions. Curiously that was exactly Donal Trumps argument for his election, against the establishment, the institut...

Re: AMERICA May Be Electing it's First WOMAN President...

Well we all got that one wrong. Hilary Clinton was a deeply flawed candidate and a poor campaigner. Her loss was not due to sexism. In fact women made gains in the 2016 election and the Senate now has 21 female members (hopefully enough to influence legislature about health care, child care and oth...

Re: Representative Governments

A representative government sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe one day we will try it? Representative of whom or what? The State of Montana has two senators and one representative. The population of Montana is roughly one million people. The State of California has roughly 37 million people repre...

Re: Get the Lawyers Off the U.S. Supreme Court!

I don't know that we need to get "lawyers" off the supreme court but it would be useful to appoint people who had broader experience in politics, the world and business instead of the rather uniform CV of graduation from an ivy league school (especially Havard), and experience limited to ...

Re: President Trump

Trump is power pretending to be against it was written on a wall outside my house. That he will be used like a bull in a China shop. I suspect Trump will be more pragmatic and moderate than many fear. It is bothersome the degree to which he lied, ignored facts, bullied and bragged in order to get e...

Re: Representative Governments

I asked if anyone had an argument for it, (the EC). Is there anyone willing to defend it against a one person one vote alternative. You have been given two arguments for it, you just don't seem to like them or care to address them, the historical reasoning about states rights, states representation...

Re: Representative Governments

monkeys in charge of public education you don't like the EC, change the Constitution -Imp It will likely never get changed. It would require an amendment to the constitution approved by three fourths of the states. Both the EC and the Senate (where each state has equal representation regardless of ...

Re: Representative Governments

Well the problem with representative governments is that they are not representative especially in the U.S. especially this election. A good start would be reform of the primary system. There is actually no uniform primary system, instead it is a patchwork quilt state by state and determined by indi...
