Re: Can the New York Times do reviews, of individual supermarket employees in England?
How do you make the comparison, between the question and arbitrary shells on Jersey shore, if you don't mind me asking? It's just another example, off the top of my head, of something that there would be zero motivation for them to write about. Could you perhaps explain what you mean by that? What ...

Re: Can the New York Times do reviews, of individual supermarket employees in England?
Why do you think they wouldn't? The same reason that they're not going to start a daily feature about arbitrary shells they find on the Jersey Shore. What would be the motivation for it? Who is asking for it? How would it help increase their readership or revenue? They don't publish just any random...

Re: So You Think There are Laws in Nature?
Nature means the superset of nomic connections, which is related to causation but transcends causation. As an idealist I claim that Nature is a human construct. What do you think that humans are, exactly? My reply is also for Seeds. ' Humans 'is nomenclature from sciences, which are human construct...

Re: Just Deserts: Debating Free Will by Daniel C. Dennett & Gregg D. Caruso
For one, if there's no free will, then it's not like we can choose to not imprison others. We've imprisoned people who have committed crimes because we were compelled to. We had no choice in the matter. And it's not something we can willingly change. It just depends on the forces at work that we hav...

Re: What is the Point of Ethics?
Ethics doesn't arise intentionally, because we have some "point" with it.
It arises because you can't help but feel that some interpersonal behavior is acceptable and some is not.

Re: Puberty blockers - no parental consent.
What part of, "I don't care what consenting adults get up to in the privacy of their own lives and bedrooms" - is confusing to you? So, the first sentence of my first post to you about this was, "You should be able to let people do their own thing publicly , too," right? No. Str...

Re: Puberty blockers - no parental consent.
In my view you should be allowed to take a dump on your lawn and you should be allowed to be naked if you like, yes. That's an awful lot of freedom of expression right there. So can I be transphobic? Can I be racist? Can I be homophobic? If the answer is no - then it seems you want all the freedom ...

Re: Puberty blockers - no parental consent.
I don't care what consenting adults get up to - in the privacy of their own lives and bedrooms. What pisses me off is having it shoved in my face all the time - and being told to approve, or else! You should be able to let people do their own thing publicly, too. That doesn't mean that you have to ...

Re: Puberty blockers - no parental consent.
Gender is a psycho-social construct based on behavioral norms in a given culture. The problem is having those norms and thinking that anyone should conform to them. Sex is biological. No matter what your preferences, your behavioral tendencies, etc. are, you're whatever sex you were born as. Gender ...
