Re: Popularity v etc
Honor is based on virtue. Popularity is based on pure appeal. Both are a kind of social distinction. Respect is honor minus social distinction. Prestige is usually based on something competitive, and more sought-after than usual. Good reputation is good social standing.

Re: Popularity v etc
What is the difference between popularity, honor, respect, prestige and good reputation? Also, isn't the faculty by which we distinguish them called discernment? Popularity is mostly a fallacy of argumentum populum. Having friends who are idiots is useless. Worse than useless. Whatever pleasure the...

Re: President
Executive orders have the force and weight of laws, but are restricted to the internal structure of the government, such as the enforcement of laws. There is also such a thing as a presidental proclaimation which applies to things outside the government, but is usually only symbolic. The examples of...

Re: Philosophy?
An insult is not the same thing as an ad hominem attack. Therefore, it has no legitimate place in a philosophy forum. I think some people come here to argue as a fight, rather than as a debate. That, however, is the proper way to take out frustrations and other emotional disturbances. Not as a fight...

Political Correctness
Political correctness is not a legitimate political issue, but a politically divisive issue. This is from another forum: You just regergitated Fox New’s talking points. That’s disgraceful in a philosophy forum. In principle, political correctness is bullshit, but I’ve yet to hear one example that wa...

Re: President
What about excecutive orders?
Then King of United States. You make laws, but you don't have to get them through congress. The point of this is what would you do concerning laws and customs. It's a difficult point to miss.

President
What would you do if elected President of the United States of America? Would you add laws, subtract laws, alter laws? Would you add customs, subtract customs, alter customs? How would you improve the nation and the world?
